just a question really. as an insured adult rider am i liable if i take an uninsured minor out riding with me? child in question is 13 but nervous and not a great rider and uninsured. her pony is fab but feeds off her nerves so can be silly/too forward . so what do you think? am i liable if anything happened to her whilst in my care :)

Don't know legally but I wouldn't be happy doing so and imagine she would be your responsibility. I seem to recall 14 being a bit of a tipping point (little things like the choice of wearing a hat or not etc)

For about £50 she would be insured public liability through BHS for the year, so would probably suggest this to the parents.

Link here says from £41 if any help... link

Agree with PJ, I happily escort minors but do ask that their parents have insurance for them.
It would be a shame if your good deed resulted in a legal nightmare for the sake of a few pounds.

yeah this all occurred to me as her pony was being very silly on the road that shes not insured and her parents wouldnt be interested in getting any. i think i will have to find out where i stand as shes only 13

ive just looked on BHS site and as far as they are concerned for insurance it looks like under 21 is junior, would this be right?
