Am I losing the plot??

Results came back this evening, he's quite anaemic, has raised gastric enzymes in blood, and also had positive worm count in poo test.

Am waiting for vet to get back to me tomorrow re a Gastric specialist vet coming to scope him for ulcers asap, but currently going out of my mind worrying about him. I lost a horse (tb ex racer) last year to severe stomach ulcers (he came to me with them) and was too far gone by the time I got him for any drugs to fix him. He's not lost weight, yet, but is so obviously so poorly.

Please can you throw some ideas out there that will give me hope that he is going to be ok?

I don't think that hugely high but I am no expert on worms perhaps border riever will stop buy she will know.
But I would be checking his worming record it might flag up worrys that the loanee might not be being as careful as they should be.
Definatly the gastro scope if he has ulcers you need to think of why have they been managing him well.
I know she's a friend but I would be thinking that he should be at home.

Thank you for all of your responses. Little update.

He's at the vet's now, tapeworm test was positive, and he's having scope done tomorrow as vet is still concerned about ulcers.

Please keep your fingers crossed for us x

Thank you Dizzydancer, yes he is eating grass ok, and is eating more of hard feed, appetite not 100% but much improved now out on grass

That's positive then- at least he has perked up- so if it is ulcers they will prob only be mild. Try not to panic- i manage my tb who has old ulcers with the naf gastri aid. He was previously on global herbs black salt which did the same job.

Yes, thank you. I feel a lot happier now he's at the vets and we'll hopefully get to the bottom of things tomorrow.

I think I might try him on the Naf supplement anyway, if he scopes clear, just to help keep his tummy settled once he's finished all of his medicine.
