I have twice. One a weanling filly, who will be three this year and is as good as we hoped. One was a graded broodmare, who while everything she was meant to be, never clicked with me, so I sold her to a friend.

I am sure he will event, DC, if you follow the advice I was given with my Shire x Tb (now about 16.3hh, and about 750kg), and trim the feathers off.
My advisor (a good eventer) explained that my girl would be slow XC otherwise, as wind resistance in her feathers would not be aerodynamic. Honest.
I have to say, my friend was a lot more forthcoming than my vet - when the same horse threw a splint as a 2yo, the vet wouldn't answer when I asked if it would affect her racing career....

PMSL!
I would have loved to have seen his face!
Hope you managed to keep the really serious look on your face as you said it!
I bought Oliver unseen from JM07. Saw a video of him, but I'm pretty sure I saw that after I'd already said I wanted him.
I just happened to view a thread where JM was asking for advice on his sales advert and fell for him. My entire brain was screaming "Don't be stupid" but I didn't care.
My initial instincts have proved correct. We've had him two years in May and my daughter is as smitten now as the day he arrived...more so infact.
I have three times from Horse Quest and Horsemart and all have worked out well but I am ultra cautious, ask lots of questions and get a feel for the seller; if I have a doubt then I'll walk away.
I liked him the first time you showed him to us and he's come on in leaps and bounds. Best of luck with him DC!
LOL! So true, bless her! She's very well and pregnant again while her foal is a cracking sort, they're thrilled with her (from the Christmas email!) so I'm so glad we gave her that chance aren't you?
