Heres the deal!! I have always ridden in the evening in the school three times a week!! However things have changed for me now and my twin girls are now at big school! So by the time we have finished our day, school, work (I work 9 till 3) after school clubs, dinner, friends for tea etc I am shattered.

Now I presently get up at 6 to turnout and muck out etc, Do you all think I am mad for considering getting up at 5 and adding riding to my early morning routine so that its done!!

What do ya reckon?

Dont do it if you thik of it as a job or to get it out of the way because then getting up at 5 isnt going to be very excitin for you. If you decide to do it because you really want to and feel itl wake you up then go for it... some people thinks it freshens their morning up and wakes them up... thats only if they enjoy it lol

Not mad, I often ride before work in the winter. That means getting up at 4.45 - it's the best part of the day, you feel like you have the world to yourself. Also I find it a great way to wake up, and feel invigorated all day

I would love to ride that early in the morning, unfortunately its not possible. Go for it but don't burn yourself out.

Yes, should have said, make sure you go to bed a bit earlier to make up for it

I've ridden out in the summer at 5.30am. Gotten up with hubby, fetched the cows and then been on the road by 6.15am. Loved it. Nothing like a quiet early morning ride.

I wouldn't want to do it every day, mind you, but it's great if you can manage it occasionally.

It isn't actually light enough to ride out until 6:30am at the moment... I ride out as soon as it is light enough all winter during the week. Husband gets children up and fed, then I am back in time to do school run/go to work. Find it easier to do everyday, as otherwise messes with my body clock. It is nice to get riding done for the day, it is a lovely way to start the day, and good to know that when the children come home you can spend most of the rest of the day with them. It does get very cold, the early nights mean less time with hubby and gettting up early is a chore, but it is the only way I, and I'm sure many others can get ridden with the dark nights.

A friend and I used to get to the yard at 4.45am and rode in the dark before work.

We did it for a whole winter on top of full time jobs and commuting. It was freezing lol. Surprisingly not that tiring tbh and no traffic except the milkman!

I get up at 5 to ride everyday and love it! Its so quiet and peaceful and a nice start to the day when you have a great ride you dont feel so bad about being stuck to your desk all day

When I could still ride, I was getting up at fve-fifteen to go and ride Dizz before driving fifty-odd miles to current client's site and getting there for nine to nine-thirty. Worked 'till six then home for seven-thirty.

I felt better and more alive when I was getting up early and spending time with my horse

. The only thing is, would you be on your own? Dizz can be an idiot, and we've had some interesting mornings, but the day I came off there were pleanty of people around (someone to call the ambulance!
