Hi everyone,
bit of a lurker here :-) I'm going to see a puppy tomorrow, a lab x. I need someone to talk me out of it please?
I already have 2 dogs . I've been looking for another for a bit but I'm getting doubts now it could be happening ?
 
No you are not mad three is a lovely number my Favourite really we have two atm and one is old ( she was Mums ) and I lost one recently I have a Pup booked to arrive in January .
Then we are going down to two when the old bitch goes I don’t know if I can do it but I am going to try .We are getting older and I need to think of the future .
The one thing with three is that it’s harder to travel with three than two if you stay away with them , we do so it’s one of the things that’s driven the decision .
 
We got up to seven at one point, got down to one, as age caught up with them all! Then got 2, and when one died the one left was so bereft that we got her two pups? three works well
 
I have 3 and it is a good manageable number.
Have just talked myself out of getting a 4th - offered my ultimate Lurcher - Deerhound X Saluki x Greyhound.
Have had 4 in the past but on my own now in a smaller house and decided to do the sensible thing.
 
They say “threes a charm” ,but we are talking about puppies,which live many years..
so..a lab cross...if you are going to see this pup the you know you will fall in love and bring it home.

be sure..
....the gender of pup will enhance your pack dynamic,not turn it upside down.
be aware
..this pup will likely grow to be above 15 to 20 kg..big and bouncy for years to come..
...the pup will be high needs,re feeding,excercise ,space and training.
....be very sure the pup is going to add to your lifestyle,not make it more complicated ,especially in these difficult,restricted times.
All I’m saying is think before you do this..
 
We have 3, 2 elderly gentlemen and a 2 yr old JRT/patterdale girl (had since a pup) who has stirred everyone up nicely. They both play with her (never have with each other), and she is besotted by our old lurcher. So our 3rd was a positive addition in every way, with the added bonus of being a reliable lap warmer when I sit down at night.
 
I think the deciding factor is can you afford to have another dog, vet, food etc and will your other dogs get on with a puppy . Personally I think two is perfect the problem with 3 dogs it becomes a lot more work like you might need to walk the dogs separately .
