Hey this is me and my adorable pony. Ink is 14.2hh and I'm 5'8. I'm not sure how much I weigh but I've been told I'm light and ink has never had a problem with getting me over jumps.
We mostly do hacking and light schooling though.
I am aware I look big on him but I'm worried I'm too big and Im losing confidence doing lessons because Im worried people will judge me.
He's also being shared with someone who is very light and short so Im not always riding him.
Any help would be appreciated x

In terms of weight, you have no concerns from the look of it.

My only consideration would be saddle fit but that's something a saddler can help you with. Your long legs could make it difficult to give you a comfortable saddle fit if the pony is short backed. It's impossible to say from this picture but that's definitely a conversation with a saddler, not something we can help you with on a forum.

Please don't let your fears about what other people may or may not think stop you enjoying your lovely pony.

Your pony is smashing. I do think you should weigh yourself for peace of mind. I would probably not look very different from you in those clothes at that angle, and we are the same height. I weigh 10st, 11st with clothes, more than 12st with tack, so I would consider myself too heavy for him. If you and his tack don't come to more than 15% of his bodyweight and he isn't an old chap, then you should be fine.

absolutely 100% fine!

i am 5'7 and both mine are 13hh, the chestnut has dressaged up to medium and will go showing this year, the bay has competed elementary so far and will move up to medium in the next few months-only one judge has ever made a negative comment about my height (but to be fair to her, the marks given were accurate and fair she just cornered me after the class finished and said i was too tall).

I was 13 (so was Ebony) and about 5' when I got my pony. He was 14hh. I didn't grow properly until I was about 15-16 and when I started, I just kept going. I ended up 5'7" and wasn't as slim as you but he was a bit chunkier than your boy so we're probably comparable. We continued to have fun until he was 25. He then slowed down due to arthritis but I was still hacking him gently when I lost him at 27. Although I realised I was tall on him when I saw photos, I never really felt it as it happened over a few years so I didn't really notice the change. You are absolutely fine, enjoy him.
He was 24 in this photo and still full of life and happy with me on him. I have a body protector under my top, I was slimmer than I look here!
