My mare has gone a bit bonkers lately and i think it's a combination of too much sugary food, not enough exercise and being a bit seasonal
So to knock it on the head I am going to get her out more (the weather has been a bit offputting!) and have changed her feed.
Previously she was getting a cupful of ground linseed, scoop of conditioning mix, a scoop of sugarbeet and a scoop of mollichaff extra - all loaded with sugar as i now realise. she is out during the day for about 6-7 hours and has as much hay as she can eat when in at night.
She is quite a poor doer being a TB so I don't want her to drop any weight as she looks a bit poor despite all the food she's been getting, but at the same time need to tackle this bonkers-ness before one of us gets hurt! The feed I have gone for is a complete change, and is:
balancer - d&h suregrow which lots of people seem to have had success with for their horses
speedibeet
cup of linseed
naf magic calmer
and as much hay as she can stuff down overnight.
what do people think of this? also how much balancer would you give?
