Am I only the one who cringes...

mmmnn,.....just read the advert......surely for a trade advert the spelling and layout of the ad should be better......

I have to admit bad spelling would put me off

at these sorts of adverts? As a granny of two little girls, I shudder to think would could happen.

I am not questioning for a minute that this is a lovely, kind, genuine mare, but even the quietest of horses can have a "moment"

I see what you mean. Iknow i would't do that with ours just incase. Its a long drop.

Just out of interest why would bad spelling put you off? Spelling has nothing to do with a horse.

Just asking as i am a terrible speller.

Some people have commented - nicely - on here which was of help to me.
laugh.gif
I am not jumping on you for your comment, i worry about comeing across as picking fault but it is just a friendly enquiry.
wink.gif
I am terrible at spelling but better at other things people are bad at.
laugh.gif
Some people cannot help spelling bad.
It just seemed odd to me if someone was looking for a horse, saw a possibility and did not give it a chance because of bad spelling. The horse i don't think will ever be asked to spell
grin.gif

Looks a sweet mare but yes I would never ever do that.
I loved this bit: "so if your carrying some xtra pounds this wont be a problem"
grin.gif

I agree, it's amazingly irresponsible (the baby on the horse with no hat, no bridle, no lead, no one by the side, etc.,that is not the spelling - not bothered by the spelling at all! I was a terrible speller when younger, still make huge mistakes, but doesn't really affect me, I just use spell-check).

She must be an amazing mare for someone to trust putting their kiddy on board with no saddle/bridle...Spelling wouldnt put me off, if I was looking she would tick all the boxes

I agree - the mare is just my cup of tea. I have two incredibly quiet horses (will only trot on a good day with a following wind

), but I wouldn't dream of putting one of my grandchildren on board without a hat, saddle and someone holding on to them and the horse - it's a long way for a tiny tot to fall.

i work at the RDA and guess what.... they have off days too, so u cannot have a completely bombproof pony!!!!!

got bitten and kicked the other day by an RDA pony. People have fallen off too when they have off days!!

helmet would of been good for the child to wear. but maybe thats just because i have a scatty mare and always wear my helmet and back protector... saved my head and back once or twice!!!!
or is it just because everyone worries about health and safety these days lol

good spelling does make it more proffesional but heho your seeing the horse not the spelling afterall

xx

I don't like it when they have kids in the advert, trying to go for the 'twee' factor.

Check out that swayed back on her, wonder if she is older than eleven?

They look like gypseys if you ask me...I wouldn't trust that advert at all.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh yeah, because all Gypsies are totally untrustworthy, aren't they *rolls eyes*

[/ QUOTE ]

That made me giggle
smile.gif

On what basis do the advertisers 'look like gypsies' btw?

Coloured horse and no hat, of course

Dear me...burn them aaaaaaaall.

I tend to ignore sellers to a certain extent and see if the horse is one I want, I like the look of her tbh

I think that we have become too 'Oh My Good God' he could suffocate on plastacine, gouge his eye out with a crayon, become an acid head listening to nursery rhymes, choke on his dummy tit, blah, blah. When I was a little child, I was plonked on horses/ponies, I was expected to fall and collect two pounds of road grit per knee and burn myself on toasted cheese. When will we stop being so hysterically 'smothering'?. When I was a child, you fell off, you got up, you got back on keeping to yourself that youd broken your wrist cos that meant the end of the lesson or whatever-and-you loved every bloody minute of it! Also, your parents accepted various trips to the hospital without sueing half the world.
Life was real, back then

. Like the mare and the kid looks a sweetie

. Very 'laid back', Mairi.

Hmmm..now, with coloureds being the 'in' colour, many many people other than gypseys currently own coloureds.

I agree with Mairi, we are too much of a nanny state now. I'm sure there would have been someone standing close by. Risky? maybe, but we have to take calculated risks in life.

Yes, I too hate it when people put their "cute" kids in photo's when trying to sell horses.

Also, when they write things like "ridden by a 10 yr old" - what's that supposed to mean then? As a 10 yrs old I rode a cob that tanked off with me on a frequent basis - I had absolutely no control at all if he decided he was going home, so although I was 10 and rode him, it didn't really make him suitable for me, did it?

And yes, we were allowed - expected - to fall off when we were kids, but a two yr old with no hat or anything to hold on to has a long way to go before hitting the ground off a 15.3.

Lovely horse though - I would go to see her even if she is owned by gypsies who can't spell!
wink.gif

Think the horse looks a sweetie, as does the child. Re the spelling, it is important to be able to use our language properly. And if you are trying to sell something, it just gives a better impression if you spell your ad correctly.
