You are not overreacting! Oh my word I would be LIVID. How dare anyone ride your horse without asking, surely that invalidates your/his/her insurance too??
A few weeks ago I went to turn my horse out early evening, only to drive past and see him already in the field. My fury was such that I floored the car, threw it into the car park like it was stolen then jumped out and said to the girl working that day "what the Hell is my horse doing in the field??". Turns out poor kid had put him down there herself, as she'd got confused with the turnouts she had to do. She was sooo apologetic and I felt bad, bless her! But it doesn't change the fact, anyone, but anyone, lays a finger on my horse without my permission (unless in an emergency obviously), they face my wrath!
I am even the same about people giving him treats, he's too damn big to be mugging you.
I would tread carefully as she is such great mates with your YO, but this is your only complication as far as I can see.
Could you have a word with YO?
Furious for you!! Good luck xx
