Had a man ring yesterday about my pony for sale. Seemed nice enough, asked the usual questions then asked when he could come for a viewing. Told him I work till 8 every night so would have to be this weekend.

Got to the yard this morning to find out hed been to the yard yesterday taking photos and asking questions!! Dont have a clue how he knew which yard I am on. He told people I knew he was there and that he was coming back tonight with his daughter!

Poor lady who brings him in didnt know I had no idea this dodgy man was there so when he asked her to bring him in, take his rug off ect she did!

Told me on phone he didnt have a clue about horses but was for his daughter so why the hell is he on the yard by himself when he knew I wasnt going to be there!!! And why did he tell everyone I had told him it was fine :S

Im now very worried as this is all very suspicious and he knows where my horses field and stables are thanks to his snooping :(

Am i just been silly and over reacting or is this all a bit suspicious/??
 
I would be furious too and worried. I would call the man and ask what on earth he thought he was doing and I would also contact the police to register what happened. Then if something did happen they would already have a log.

I would very much want an explanation.

Yes the horse is up for sale, but you didn't give him permission to go and view it before you, the fact he has turned up and lied I would be worried about it slightly.

If you can't get to the yard tonight I would phone the person who brings him in for you and the YO to let them know you have had a stranger appearing on the yard who is there without any permission. If you are still thinking of selling your pony to this chap, I would phone him and ask him NOT to go to the yard this evening and to wait until the time you had both arranged.

No i have no idea how he knew where I was. Apparently he was parked in a lay by down the farm track and asked people where Connors field was!

Iv told everyone to ring me if he turns up again as he now knows I work all day :(
 
And i definately wont be selling poor pony to him! Iv informed everyone as they did think it was suspicious and iv got a description of him and his pick up!

Im going to be stressing all day now
 
I personally would ring him back and ask him how he found your horse and why he did not respect your appointment. I wouldn't sell a horse to someone like that and I would tell him so but this is your call.
As mentioned before make sure everyone on the yard knows about this situation and ask them to inform you immediately if he returns.

I too would be appalled!! :mad:

I would also be quite tempted to ring him and tell him not to even bother coming at the weekend to view the pony anyway as he has blown any trust and made you very wary of his devious actions, especially in this day and age with all the horse thefts about.

Poor you! Selling a horse can be a stressful thing anyway and it doesn't take much for potential buyers to respect that and first and foremost, want to come across well to the person who may consider selling them their animal! :rolleyes:
 
You need to ring him and tell him in no uncertain terms that he is not to turn up without prior arrangements - and that he is trespassing if he does. And if he does it again the next call he'll get will be from the police.

You must also tell the YO, so that they are aware of what is going on and can be on hand.

Ring back & find out how he found yard. Tell him pony can only be viewed at agreed appointments & everyone on yard has been instructed that this is the case & he will be asked to leave. Failure to do so will result in Police being called. Maybe I have a suspicious nature but I wonder if he was a ***** who recognised place from advery photo or heard of pony for sale? Was he reccieing place to see if he wanted to return & break into yard & nick pony/tack??
