So I moved yard a few months ago was promised a lot things that wasn’t true. I am on full livery and horses go out spring to autumn . Last November the mares were kept out to late November and the gelding were inside for weeks prior. I was told by ex livery apparently the man hates mares and he doesn’t have a good reputation. i was annoyed but just let it go just because I didn’t want to start a fight fast forward to this week the horses went out. What really annoying there is no grass at all it’s a mud pit and i am Not allowed to put hay in the field and whats even worse he put his favourites liverys horse were in there stables for the night and mucked out there horses. Am I am overreacting

I’m a bit lost as well, are you saying that the mares were living out till November and then there is no winter turnout?
either way sounds like it’s nor what you want or are happy with, and the yard owner does not sound accommodating, in which case I’d just look for livery elsewhere ASAP

From the OPs previous post in the horse sale support thread:

Hi guys might have to sell my mare so annoyed due to my toxic family. My auntie is married to farmer has convinced my mother that I should sell my mare even though both of them have nothing financially to do with it . My auntie and uncle hate horses and horse riders it’s all to do with jealousy they can’t stand livery yards having land. They of the opinion of all equine land should should only be used for farming. My aunt used me and my mother having an arrangement to use it to her advantage. The problem is that I am 23 but I have a physical disability so I can’t drive I rely on lifts to the yard. I feel sick and am fuming My friend said she could temporary have the horse on loan till it all cools down.

In an earlier thread, she has a Connemara mare.

If it’s anything like down here there is a lot more geldings that mares if the feild was in ok condition surely it was better for you and your horse to have more turn out I doubt the livery owner left mares in a muddy feild and had the geldings tucked up he may of just made the best decision with what land is available

I always wonder with posts like this, why you need to ask people ?!

If your horse isn't being cared for to the standard you expect, you are also not happy then why is it even something you need to question.

Move.

I'm not quite sure I understood all of your post correctly, but it must be so disappointing to find out that you're not getting several of the things you where promised before moving to full livery on this new yard, because that's not how the place is actually being run in reality. Of course we can tell you that you're not overreacting, but only you can answer if you think it's it likely that complaints will lead to changes in how this man runs the yard, or if it's better to just spend your energy on finding a new yard.

In that case, I suggest that you send your horse to your friend to give yourself a bit of breathing space. Then could you have a look into learning to drive an adapted car? That way you would have a bit more independence. If you get any kind of mobility allowance perhaps you could use it to pay for taxis. As you say your finances are nothing to go with your relatives

not sure i’ve fully understood your post, but if you aren’t happy with your horse’s care then no, you’re not overreacting and i’d say move yards. i think an “overreaction” comes into it regarding how you handle the situation and potential move
