My friend is attending the suffolk show this year and has offered to take me. Last year I did some local shows unplaced in once and first and seconds in the others. We gained champion and reserve champion but in total I think we only attended 5 shows no arab classes just foreign breeds and veteran classes. My boy is getting old and would really like to take him to a county before he looses his spark. We have no arab classes around where I live apart from the suffolk show I have never seen an Arab class. He moves well has fairly good manners but doesn't go at a hundred miles an hour on a long lead and doesn't have an arched stance. Do I do it? Will I embarrass myself and will he be considered as wrong? What would be correct wear for inhand?

I don't know much about showing but if it's not til the summer, you have loads of time to prepare. The arched stance you can teach. You can also teach them to do extended trot in hand. His paces should become more flamboyant with some schooling over poles (don't know if you do this already) and you have plenty of time to figure out a feed and exercise regime that makes him sparkle. All in all, I say go for it :p If he doesn't place, so what, you know he's a good boy and you can have a fun day out and get some nice photos.

The worst that can happen is you're not placed! And you'll more than likely get a lovely picture from it (this is how I always think). If you get the chance, go out to some county shows and watch the classes you'll be entering. Maybe see if there are any local in hand showing clinics near to you?

Enjoy yourself! I went to a local county show last summer as I had always wanted to at least experience it... And I won! So you never know!!
