Am I right to be disgusted?

I sometimes get emails from a GR breeder who I once contacted when sourcing a puppy (didn't buy one) and tonight received one that said Sad news..
Apparently she has had her GR bitch put to sleep aged 15 years and 7 months.
All well and good until she states the bitch has just had a litter..
Is that far too old or is that just me?
I can't imagine breeding from a bitch that age, it's an OAP in human terms!
 
Ewwwwwwwwwww......that's a pretty amazing age for any large dog to live to, let alone one still breeding.
It's a bit sick in my opinion. Actually it is sick full stop. Poor old girl. Agree with Nailed, just a machine

Just trying to be very tactful on FB, a friend of mine with two small kids has just bought herself a 'Dalidor'...dal x lab (didn't dare ask how much), from a man who appears to have several litters on the go at once.
I have given her loads of advice, dallies can be high-energy, don't take it out until 12 weeks after jabs, take him to puppy class - she has ignored me and only replied to the people who have said 'awwwwwww so cuuuuuute'

Having a litter at over 15 years of age is a little, hm, late ***insert the sound of head desk, add some hysterical laughter and curse words*** regardless of breed! And I can't help but thinking that she might have gotten even older, if she had not been used as a puppy-machine.
So you're definitely right to be disgusted Henryhorn.




My sympathies to you too Hacking_Hack, to me you seem like someone who has enough knowledge and sense about dogs to be capable of guiding someone into a functioning and sensible dog owning life and to hear that they choose to ignore it *sigh*, sadly it is probably the dog that will suffer most from her not listening to you...
Not to mention that the "Dalidor br##der" has earned money on his doings, which will probably encourage him to continue.

That's horrendous. The breeders I know don't breed past the age of six, and the bitches have a maximum of three litters.

That poor, poor dog.
 
I've been dwelling on this and thinking about the fact my old girl, Puppy, (GSD) died a few months short of 11. To think that someone would breed from a dog aged 15 is seriously upsetting

HH - are these people a KC registered breeder? If so then I would be seriously tempted to forward the email...
 
Yes, they are, they have a huge site, and to be fair I have always thought they adored their dogs.
Perhaps they made a mistake on the age on the site, I'll go back and check.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I got the email, they haven't said anything on their site yet and I've deleted the mail I was so cross.
 
I think it's horrible when you consider our GR had to be put to sleep last year at the grand old age of 14 because she had bad arthiritus and cancer!!
 
That is awful, poor bitch. The KC won't accept registrations from a bitch who has had a litter over 8 years of age (in fact it could even be 6 now, not 100% sure). If this person is a KC registered breeder then I think the KC might well take action because they are quite keen on such things after the Pedigree Dogs programme. I definitely think you should contact them and tell them about this breeder.
