I'm not put off, he hasn't done anything except hack and is clearly learning the ropes now so would be a horse to bring on...his jump is very leg-dangly, but then he is learning so that would probably improve...
he is very cheap, especially as he seems to be working very nicely on the flat, but them saying that he seems to be a novice jumper going by the photo and if hes only been doing fun rides hes not going to be worth much...
Hmmm... I know it's a trade advert, I've been dissmissing dealers up to now, but worried I might be missig out on some gems. Oh and don't worry, i would never buy with a vetting....I'm too cautious!!
Google the mobile or landline number and you will get a good gauge of how many horses this person is selling. If its more than a few, and they are advertising as a "private seller", it probably means they're not private. They're probably not paying income tax on these new found easy earnings :-0
I would love to start a campaign for these types of so called dealers of horses being regulated by DEFRA. And whilst we're at at, let's get insurance companies and vets sharing data on horses so buyers are not ripped off by veterinary failings and dodgy horses!
I am all for reputable dealers that have a good name and offer decent horses and money back guarantees. That old saying "put your money where your mouth is".....
looks nice - i bought my mare with no vetting, the way i looked at it, I bought my first house for 150,000 and didnt get a survey, so if I could risj that, 1100.00 on a horse seemed fair game. Vet saw her to give her jabs and said she was a bargain, so they are out there, even from dealers!!
When I was looking for a new happy hacker I had a set budget and had looked at horses up to this amount and found nothing to be as described in the ads, then a friend rang and said she had seen a horse ad for a horse that sounded just right.
When she told me the price it was 1/4 less than my budget and I thought crikey it must be either an old crock a nutter or unhealthy in some way, and I very nearly did not look. That was over 5 years ago and not only did I get a very cheap horse I bought what as been my horse of a life time, I,m so glad I went now.
As for the horse that your thinking about looking at I do not know the dealer in question so cannot comment on that ususally the posters on here get things about right when they say avoid certain dealers but then most dealers do not know what they are selling as they have not had the horses long enough to really know if they are good or bad, but dont let cheap prices put you off in the future there are some real bargains out there.
I have bought off her in the past, got myself a fantastic youngster who is now doing Elementary dressage. All depends on the horse, just trust your gut instinct when you go there.
