VERY EFFED OFF! Rant alert :-P on friday i started renting what is basicaly a shed split into two smallish stables and a bit of storage space in front, no running water but there are lights and electric,,no turnout, for 20 pound a week. I very specificaly asked if the money was per horse or for the whole shed, and was told that it was 20 for the shed. Moved Millie in that day and paid 2 weeks rent up front. Moved bobby in yesterday and had a very pissed of yard owner now saying that its 20 pound per horse. GAAAAAAAGH! Why is it the second i pay for livery the terms drasticaly change :(

no turn out at all, except into a small sand arena. I didnt think 20 a week was bad for both the stables short term, but 40 is very expensive! i was told there would be summer turnout if i wanted it, and today been told that this would cost even more on top of the 40 im now expected to pay.

Far to expensive without turnout. I am on diy livery with two horses they have lovely stables and 24hour T/O for £14 each a week. I could never go without turnout.
Good Luck

after a quick ring round iv found diy livery with turnout and hay included for 25 to 35 a week, but each of the yards only has one space :( so still in a dilemma

Used to pay £40 week for a 2-3 acre field no running water And 3 stable size field shelter. Could put as many horses in as we wanted and lots of people said that was expensive!

Could you split them for a short while until the yard you like has a second space? Did you not get a contract before you moved onto the current yard - might be worth it next time.

west yorkshire area. No stupidly iv no contract as it sounded so black and white, 20 for the stabling, no turnout and arena is a free for all between liveries. i could split them up as i already rent a field but its quite muddy and its just a problem with time getting from place to place

Unfortunately if something sounds too good to be true then it usually is. ALWAYS get a contract written up and signed, no matter what the deal or how insignificant it seems, as without one you are screwed in a situation like this!

Even at £20 for the both, I would still look elsewhere ASAP, how much extra will they want to charge you for grazing in the spring? No contract either, sounds like a recipe for trouble.

i hava enough summer grazing elsewhere if necessary, just with all the wet these two get very bad mud fever. Though i think you all are right, its probably a good idea to move them elsewhere.

thought the yard owner has come down on the price to what was originaly agreed, would it be considered rude for me to leave anyway even thought im getting what i wanted for the price i wanted. i am concerned that a couple of months down the line the YO is going to change terms again, or become a bit iffy with things like arena turnout in the meantime.

I'd be livid, as if moving isn't stressful enough. I would either move them to separate yards or wait until another space comes up and then move them both. If your happy to keep them in couldn't you set up some stables/shelters on your summer grazing a use all year round to save the hassle come winter.

Firstly, that is extortionate for a shed split in two and no turnout.

Secondly...this is what contracts are for, even for low value agreements, they save the hassle and prevent this kind of thing.

I think you are better off looking elsewhere!
