who turned out this morning?

at a yard of over 20 horses only Luka and his exmoor field mate Rupert went out, with a bale of hay between them!
they are very sensible boys and won't hooly around too much. I just hate leaving them in, they look so miserable, so i turn them out unless it's really impossible!

Yes I did, my three have been out for a few hours every day even though I have not been able to ride for over three weeks! They have haylage in the field and are far happier going out for a walk round than staying in and getting hot headed.

My ned is out! He is out 24/7 with a field shelter, he and his buddy are just walking very carefully and don't move too much around the field staying near the field shelter and hay!

mine are out with hay. looned round again this morning (as they were in at 3pm yesterday and keen to get out!), but soon settled and stood eating hay in the fresh air! x

We turned out today. They stayed in yesterday, because of the continued snowfall - but all went out this morning.

We have thick, powedery snow so everyone is out, running around and having a great time. Yesterday I lunged in the school because although there was a lot of snow it was soft and the rubber and even sand underneath were still soft.

We have about 50 horses at our yard. The mares and geldings field is separated (cannot see each other) and two geldings went out for a few hours this morn and then my mare went out alone!

I don't really see why anyone isn't turning out, at least not for a few hours. OK, my mare isn't thrilled with the fact she is out alone and does do the odd call but I would rather that then stuck in her box. OK, she cannot eat much (but she is a good doer) so it's better she gets a break from haylage if anything. At least it's fresh air, change of scenery and gets out the box to stretch, roll and have a bit of fun in the snow!!.

Ronnie's been out through it all!
Our lot live out 24/7 and we don't have any stables so our hairy crew have no choice!
They do just fine with haylage and rugs

No...mine go out every day.....they have the field to themselves at the minute....no-one else is turning out and all their horses are getting pee-d off and kicking doors etc.

Mine are out with hay all day, will be brought in at around 5.30 today...sure, the hay will have gone but the horses will have had fresh air, excercise and company.

If it really is too dangerous to get the horses to the field then fair enough....but mine are fine, no slipping so I can't see why everyone else is keeping in....but thats their decision I suppose.

Mine are out, one lives out 24/7 & the other is stabled everynight and turned out during the day.
She couldn't get out yesturday but went out today no bother, just over half the horses on my yard are out today

Mine haven't spent any time in, yet. I am quite fortunate in that I call my own shots as it's more or less my place, although I do only rent it. I have a field opposite their stables I can use in emergencies (it is only about an acre) and I have their main 2.5 acre field across the lane. So no, they haven't been kept in at all. Plenty of hay and haylage has been fed, though.

If i could get mine out, they would be out! farm track to the field is a steep hill and tends to have water running down it which has now frozen so is impassable, everyone even struggles walking up it on foot to get to the stables!, making use of the horse walker at the minute which just about accessiable though grit supplies running out......

such a shame as mine prefer to be out!

All ours are still in their 'normal' routine. Some out 24/7 and others going out either 8.15am - 4.00pm or 4.00 pm - 8.30am.

Those that live out have access to a large barn where we are putting plenty of hay but they have also figured out to dig through the snow to the grass and the others have hay put out in the field.

Strangely it is the older horses who have a hooley in the snow whilst the younger ones aren't too bothered. It was lovely to see two of the oldies have a buck and a canter through the fresh snow yesterday. Our fields are flat and not rutted.

We are fortunate that it is safe to get them to and from the fields.
