Most girls my age love to go shopping, spending a ridiculous amount of money on clothes, accessories, shoes, hair products etc.

So where do I shop? Gommes, my local tack shop.
I love buying new riding clothes, equine books, a new hoof pick for God's sake! My wardrobe is full of Toggi, Mountain Horse, Joules, Dublin, Shires etc instead of Primark, Topshop and New Look.

Is that weird? More importantly, am I the only one?

no way are you alone, I'd rather spend my hard earned cash on my neddie (well when I finally find one) but have done... the simple things too... always bought stuff from tack shops rather than new make up or clothes for me... I had shoes falling apart but I would rather buy things for my horse lol....

Always have and always will :D :D

I get far more pleasure from spending my spare pennies (not that I have many) on my horse than I do on myself, ok so I wouldn't mind being shod with a new pair of shoes as often as my horse does but when it comes to clothes, I'd much prefer to treat myself to a new pair of jods etc or saddle cloth for my horse than a new top for myself.

I feel guilty if buy fashion type clothing for myself, hence why I don't tend to bother and go around looking like a scruffy jipe and clothes that were 'soooo last season darling'

My husband thinks that I'm not a proper woman because I hate shopping for clothes and I don't have hundreds of pairs of shoes. Apart from wellies, I only have one pair of boots and some flip flops.

Not owning my own horse, most of my spare cash goes on books ( 80% about horses and/or riding ) and saving for lessons.

Oh, and the secret horse fund that the Mr. knows nothing about. :D At the rate I'm going, I'll be able to buy myself a horse in about 2025. :(

No, its clearly weirder to have a wardrobe full of Primark, Topshop and New Look.

Your not alone!
Its my 18th coming up and my mum said I can get something special. Rather than get a nice pair of shoes or jewellery I got an Air Jacket! :p

Don't get me wrong I love shopping and buying stuff for myself but I have so much fun buying new things for Andy. :)

Don't worry, you are normal!! When I was a young teenager, I was (and still am :D) obsessed with horses! When my sister was out clubbing, getting drunk, snogging boys, and buying designer bags etc I was up early, down the yard, mucking out, grooming and riding... boys... who are they and as for designer bags, I only had one bag and that was my hat bag!!

Just enjoy it, you have years to grow up and settle down etc, as the saying goes, make hay whist the sun shines... have fun!!

I'm a right shopaholic!:o I have 2 wardrobes, 1 for Horsey stuff one for Fashion stuff. Absolutley love buying clothes although only with the left over money. I wouldn't see my Horses (not that I have any, I am currently Horse hunting) go without so I could go Topshop, I do love buying things for my share Horse and already have loads of stuff for my tackroom. But I have to confess to loving my shoes and bags.

Hi I have always been a bit of a shopoholic but being as I spend the majority of my time @ the yard I would like to have nice stuff for the horse & myself - it is nice to get something special 2 wear if I go somewhere nice - but by the time I have finished all I have to do I am normally knackered & curl up on the sofa - with the odd glass of wine so there's not really much point buying loads of normal clothes !!!!!!

Your not the only one. I've gone nearly 5 years without buying anything but essentials, the only shoes I bought were wellies! I did recently break my run though for a particularly fab pair of heels :p

The horses on the other hand get rugs, leadropes, brushes ect. on a very regular basis!!!

I hate regular clothes shopping, I live in Oxford and it's always so packed in the shopping centres. I love the smell of tack shops too, strange but it's much better than B.O.

Can someone please explain to this 40 odd year old what Fashion is?
If it doesn't have anything to do with horses then I'm not interested.

Love this!

Fashion to my friends is apparently: orange skin, a belt for a skirt, see-through tops with bright bra's underneath, backcombed hair and a few layers of caked foundation.

I love my friends.

Same here. I have decent jods, boots, tack etc. - I'll happily spend £50 on a horsey wear item but I think thats horrifically expensive for a pair of non-riding trousers! To work (office), I currently wear shoes where the soles are coming off because I hate spending money on anything non-horsey...!!

Ha ha. I too am a forty-something who lacks any fashion sense or style whatsoever. My idea of making an effort is to hose off the wellies before I go to the shop...
