Who doesn't like people mucking out their stables :o.

We have bought our horses in at night this week to give them a break & as the fields are bare. Anyway the girl that shares my mums cob keeps asking me the days she is riding she will muck his stable out, but I always do it in the morning when I have turned out. I don't mind my mum doing my stables & she doesn't mind me doing hers, but we have a thing about other people doing it.

People say I am mad let the sharer do it if she wants one less for us, but I just like doing them my way & I no what I am like I would go in after she gone & check it :o. Is anyone else weird like that or am I the only one :p

I like to do 'my' stables 'my' way too... after a day off, they are just not the same!!

Equally, it can be nice to do one less... or two, or three....

I expect the sharer just wants to do her bit, and feel part of looking after the horse. Which is a lovely thing for them to want to do.

Give her a break, she's only trying to help! It's not as if she wants to come round and clean up your house .... Chill out!

nope!
i cant bear other people doing my stables - people now know not to touch mine as i will just go and re-do it! :O

i like them done in a specific way, with banks turned every day, fresh bedding put in banks etc.....
even my MUM wont do my banks any more - i like them done in such a way :)
theres nothing like looking at a freshly done bed! with smooth base, equal banks and swept back neatly!!!!

What could she do wrong?! Leave glass in there?!

I think you're mental... :D Sorry!

haha I no it's silly really :p

I know she is lovely & just wants to help I just like to do it myself :o, she does other things like making feeds poo picking etc so I am not totally bonkers :p

I'm not the biggest fan! Occasionally someone will need to do it if I am away, but I try not to think about it! I'm not worried about my horse, I know the bed will be fine, but it is just not how I do it myself!

I'm the same with feeds and haynets. You can't go far wrong with either of these but I just have my specific way of doing things!

I'm afraid I am the same - I have had people offer to do them for me which is so kind, but always turn the down.

I have also been known to 're-do' my stable if somone has got there first!

Sadly 'anal', 'ocd' and 'control freak' comes to mind......

I don't need to chill out I am not angry or anthing just like doing it myself I am greatful that she wants to, but she is more than welcome to do my house ;)

Definitely not alone. I like to do my box myself too. Not that anyone else can't do it, I just like to do it myself do I know it's right!! Lol

But Natz there's something quite special about getting the stable ready. I totally understand why she likes to do it.

I think it's good the sharer wants to help so why not say that would be a big help but everyone as their way of doing a bed so would she mind if you show her your way. She'll then feel she is helping and you'll have the bed how you want it - simples :D

I like my stables done my way, I have ocd about my perfectly square bankings & immaculately level beds. But I can assure you my daughters pony hasn't come to any harm since she got old enough to do the stable unaided. And I really feel that as most sharers want the whole horsey experience, its a bit selfish to say no to them on their days.

Maybe I am just being ott then, as I say it's not her as she is really nice & so helpful.

Just don't like being called unkind when I don't intentionally aim to be it's just something I like to do, supose I best get over it :o

I struggle with anyone else doing my girls box because I like her spotless and as she's fairly clean it's pretty easy to get her that way (at least for me). She's been on full livery while I've been laid up and it's so hard - she's been looked after really well but I still find it hard :D

Nope not weird at all, I don't like FIL mucking out gem as he'll either take half the bed out (because he can't be bothered to shake the poo off the top of the straw into barrow) and put shed loads of clean straw in.

Or he does what he did yesterday and just puts clean on top of everything. I went in and had to bloody re muck out - pointless.

Cheaper and cleaner if I just do it but he insists on doing gems whilst he's there doing his! Lol:-)

Whilst I can understand what you mean (I am the same with grooming, for e.g.) when comes to mucking out I am definitely not the same :o. Anyone offers to muck out and I would snap their hand off - more time to ride! :D (although different with a sharer of course...). When LG was on livery though I did often have to muck out again after the girls had done it, but that was more out of necessity rather than any OCD tendencies/wanting to do it 'my' way... Any way is fine by me as long as it's clean and practical!

it's nothing to do with her

How unkind.

I don't want to offend anyone, but I think this might have been misinterpreted - I read it to mean that the OP's wanting to do the stable herself was more to do with Natz and would be the same regardless of who was mucking out, and therefore nothing against the sharer in particular. I think it might have been interpreted as "[the horse care] is nothing to do with her".
