Am I the only one

I don't want to offend anyone, but I think this might have been misinterpreted - I read it to mean that the OP's wanting to do the stable herself was more to do with Natz and would be the same regardless of who was mucking out, and therefore nothing against the sharer in particular. I think it might have been interpreted as "[the horse care] is nothing to do with her".[/QUOTE]

You got it right, you put it so much better then me lol :)

I do prefer my stables to be done my way but I'll let anyone who wants to muck out for me.

....but try & mix my feeds & I'll be having serious words ;)

I have mixed views on this. Where I used to be they only offered full livery when horses came in on a night so they could all be on same routine and non of them got left hanging around gate annoying everybody (was a bigish yard so fair 'nough). YM used to go round and check the beds and price was same irrespective of how much bedding was used, stables were also rubber matted so if bed was a tad thin didn't matter so much.

I'm now on DIY and pay for bedding as I use it so I like to do all my own mucking out so I can see where my money's going and how much bedding I'm going through. Stable also drains in a bit of an odd way so bed has to be laid in a certain way to prevent a river of pee running down the passageway thus I do not like people touching my stable unless I've specifically asked them! If it wasn't for the needing to keep tabs on how much bedding I'm using (only get a delivery once a week so if I mess up and get a bit low it's best all round if it's purely my own fault!) and the need to soak up where the wee collects then I wouldn't be as bothered.

What could she do wrong?! Leave glass in there?!

I think you're mental... :D Sorry!

:D:D

I have a sharer and on "her" day I leave the stable deep with plenty of fresh straw so that all she has to do is skip out and smooth it out. She's welcome to do some of the bigger mucking out sessions but I need to make sure she understands the "system" first :p. Only the soggy-wet or truly filthy stuff goes, I can't bear too much straw going on the muck heap! :o

Yes that was how I read it too.

Natz when I have had people mucking out for me, I allow them to do it if they want. I turn a blind eye until after they've gone and just before I bring the horses in and then I whizz round the stables and put the bedding the way I like it, takes two ticks and it's done. I appreciate people helping muck out and if all it takes is for me to switch off and let them do it then I can do that :)

Coming back to this, my sister gets you ;)

She compromises. Stables can be mucked out by people other than her but she does a 'tidy up' afterwards. You could probs do that quite tactfully? Like, take your horse in, pick it's feet out in there and then grab a fork to get the dirt out. And while you're there just check it's all ok.

Mum and I still think you're crazy though :D (in a nice way!)

If someone was making a complete hash of mucking out I would probably show them or go round after, I can understand a sharer wanting to do it, however I have so much poo to shovel every day I would love a helper.:o

I've had to ban my mum and my OH from mucking out my boy :o

When i do him, when i add a new bale of straw it lasts 7-10 days. When they do it, they waste sooo much i have to add a new one every 3/4 days even if thry only muck out once a week!

I appreciate them trying to help but thry just seem to waste so much bedding, it's just easier to do i myself lol!

Anyone is welcome to do mine :)
6 or 7 poo's - one of which will be mashed by the water bucket. 3 will be on top of each other by the swivel manger. 1 will be under her haynet and the rest over to the right. She pee's in the middle at the back. Rubber matting (but still a nice thick bed) and no banks.

I'll provide wheelbarrow, fork, broom and pooper scoop.

Please form an orderly queue :)

I'd love someone to do my stable for me. Unfortunately as my horse is well known for his dirty stable I don't get many offers.
Send your sharer to me :-)

Ned doesn't have a stable, but rather a small pen with a shelter.
I don't like people doing it, purely because I'd feel lazy and it's my job, not anyone else's! I feel awful when other people do my work, unless I'm actually at work :P then I will admit I can be quite lazy!

I'm the same, have to do it my way, straight lines, square banks, flat and level bed with every last scrap of hay or poo taken out :)
