Here's me and B ready to go off hunting a few weeks ago. I haven't had any specific comments about being too big for her but we have had some disparaging looks while out at shows. I won't tell you her height or my height, so as not to bias the outcome

So with nothing to guide you, in your opinion do I look too tall/big on her?

Extra brownie points for guessing her height/my height/her breed.

Please excuse naff photo, I don't trust my mother with my good camera.

looks ok to me....

photos can sometimes look odd anyway. I am 5 ft6 and 9 stone and my horse is 17hh tb. Some people have commented on in photos he looks 15.3 (when I am on him) other pics I have of him make me look way to big on him!

Absolutely not, if you are too big for her then I am too big for my boy -

She looks about 15.2 to 16hh ish and maybe you are 5'6 at a guess, I'm crap with humans. I'd say she was a native cross. So any brownie points? I think she is lovely, I can't see the point in being grossly overhorsed anyway.

I think you look absolutely fine. Laafet looks fine on hers too and your legs look to come to about the same area on your horse.

What happened to people hun ting 15.2's. I think you look fine. Don't worry about what other think just keep riding him.

Yep, I look similar on mine I think...he's 15hh and I am 5'5

He certainly doesn't struggle to carry me and I like him just exactly that size!!

I think you look fine! is she a Welsh Sec D? around 15hh?
She is the spit of my boy, who incidently is up for sale because i am Way too tall for him and he didn't make the height..

you look fine.
i think tbh that if you take your feet out of stirrups and stretch them down, if your feet end up much below their tummy (or level with their knees!) then yes, you're too big for them, unless they are a true weight carrier, or you are a stick insect!
you look absolutely fine. also, she looks as if she has plenty of bone under that feather, i'd say she's at least 1/2 welsh cob, and about 15.2, and you're about 5'5".

You're fine on her and I'll bet she LOVES hunting!

My bet - she's a 14.2 Welsh Sec D. I'd guess you're around 5'5" or 5'6"

No I don't think you are!

I guess her to be 14.2 and you to be 5'3. I won't even try the breed xx

I you were too big, i would definitely be too big for April lol

Yes when I buy my own horse I will go for something a bit bigger but I'm not going to stop riding a perfectly brilliant horse just because she is dinky. I know how you feel, i get paranoid too even though everyone always says I look fine... the worst part is that am 27 so i sometimes need to compete against kids and people assume I am about 22 (sometimes that doesn't bother me too much!!

)

This is my most recent pic apart from all the ones in my signature... I am more likely to outgrow her weightwise than heightwise I think hehe.
i always wear uber long stirrups and my legs dangle to the bottom of her stomach so i think we are ok?

No definitely not!

Here is a pic of me on my midget welsh d mare Holly, i am a bit tall for her she is only 14hh and i'm 5ft 9/10!

She has no problem carrying me though and my friend who is a similar size to me but a little shorter is doing a dressage test on her soon!

my 15hh cob loves hunting (carting!) with my OH who is 5'9" and 15 stone and in all the photos they look great together

mind you noone can believe something so small can charge over massive jumps for hours and still be full of beans!

I would say that she is around 14.2/15hh and you're possibly 5.3/5.4

Either way - you look like a smashing pair.

The looks at shows can only be jelousy..........
grin.gif

14hh and you 5'3-5'4?

NO you arent to big dont even think it for a second!!!

if people give you any funny looks smile sweetly and say isnt my pony FABULOUS!!!!

im 5ft2 and my pony is 13.1 - i get some looks and very occasionally some thoughtless comments - but we are happy, she is wicked and everyone we meet thinks she is cool - she is too strong for a kid any way and since when is it only the kdids that get to have all the fun on the mad ponies anyway!!!

This absolutely isn't meant to sound sarky or anything, but why do people think you are too big for her? I mean, your legs aren't dangling below her belly or anything, and you're not massively taller than her head...so why do people think you might be too big for her? I think you look really well-suited, actually, and you make a nice picture together.

Maybe the people who are being rude are the sort of people who think you HAVE to ride a huge horse to be a proper rider, or who think adults shouldn't ride ponies.
