Good point about the stirrup bars, windand rain. The saddle does look thoroughly unsuitable for you, OP.

I like the older style of saddles much better than the current ones which are so hard to fit anything. I don't buy all this hype about spreading the load over the horse's back. I once did wonder, decades ago, why 'English' saddles didn't do what American western saddles did, but when the style all changed a dacade or three ago, I was not impressed.
That was me in a 16" Heather Moffett FlexEE- the next size up would be 17" but their 17" is more like 18" and definitely too big for him.

I am 5ft8, 10 and a half stone and ride a 14.2h cob. I'm very long legged with short torso and have never been told I am too big for my cob or felt awkward in my seat. I have the 17in Heather moffet flexee, the dressage cut and find it very comfortable. I don't think you look too big but I do think you look squashed in your saddle, 5ft6 isn't that tall in my opinion. Have you tried dressage saddles to give your leg more room? Apologies if someone else has asked that
