Hi everyone,

I am just looking for some opinions. I have found a horse, well pony that I would really like to buy and she is perfect for me in every way.

She is a 14.1 Hafflinger, so yes a pony but a sturdy and wide one.

At 5 foot 6 and just under 11 stone would I be too big for this horse? Everyone says they can carry weight but I have no experience with M and Ms,

Thanks :)

You should be fine.

Haffies are known to be good weight carriers, and 11 stone would be nothing to a fit and healthy haffie.

Height wise it is harder to tell without photos, but if it is wide, it should take your leg up.

Hope it works out!

Thanks that is what I was hoping! Everyone at my yard tells me I look fine but they all know the woman who is selling the horse too and they are my friends so not sure if they are being honest!

oh good another reply that I like!

I know people say that Natives and M and M's etc can carry more weight but I just felt so big on her when I tried her. I got used to it after a while! Are Hafflingers technically M and M's or am I wrong?

I think you suited her.....she is chunky enough to take up your leg for sure.....post a pic? People on here are very honest!

Definitely not !!

I'm 5'8 & was about 9 1/2 stone & I used to ride & jump 13.2 & 14.2 connies who are less sturdy than a haffy & they never had any issues at all !!

If you feel too big why buy her ?
Not being nasty just think first impressions count .

If you felt too tall that may be more of a problem than your weight which she should have no problem with, it depends on your plans long term, if you want to jump it may prove more of an issue than mainly hacking.

Haflingers are not M&M ponies, they are not native to this country so are usually classed as foreign breeds for show purposes.

Ah ok, I wasn't sure, thanks, I am used to riding Applaoosas, hence the name! I would have entered her in M and M classes so I am glad I asked!
