Am I too big to ride..,

TG,I am sorry this simple question has turned into such a nasty thread.
I would like to make it clear that the rest is not about you as I think you are sensable enough to ignore those who should be ignored and don't belive a couple of rude people on a forum will have any negative effect on you.

I have not picked on her in anyway whatsoever. Please, dont get your knickers in a twist for nothing. TG is happy, we are happy!
From what Ive seen, most of the Uk has problems with its weight. TW is in the norm therefore goes unnoticed. It would be beneficial to her and to the other x who are overweight to get rid of a few kilos. Sixteen or sixty, it can only do good.
Right,an adult will see they need to shift some weight and do it sensably. If they do decide to go for a death or glory style diet, there is little harm they can do to themself.
A teenager is a different matter.
Most would be devastated to read what has been said to TG.
How many young girls do you know who have an eating disorder? How many do you know overweight?
Which does more damage to the persons health? I'll give you a clue,it is not one too make pieces of cake ;)

Having watched a teenage cousin starve untill she could not stand it only to run and stick fingers down her throat because of bitchy comments made by a BF's mother it is a subject close to my heart and I can not stand nasty, bitchy comments made by people who should know better about people that are nothing to do with them.
Being tubby for a while would have done her NO harm. Her attempts to lose weight ruined her teath, damaged her throat and have left her with a very unhealthy obcession with food.
Well done to the BF's mother for trying to help huh?

Making your point and leaving the thread would be sharing your views, comming back again and again to amke yet another negative comment about the OP's weight and lifestyle IS pickign on her.
This time, you have "choosen" a well adjusted, bright, sensable and clearly loved young girl with the strength to ignore you.
Next time,it could well be YOUR words that lead a young girl to harm herself because someone thinks she is fat.

Maybe yourself and walkingman would like to post some personal details about yourself to be picked apart-although for obvious reasons,I know you would not ;)

TG, screw the bad mouthers, who cares what they have to say about your life? Its yours and you live it to the full, never let some faceless people on an internet forum tell you how to live your life!
xxx

Right, a few responses than I'll do a more general reply...

A couple of posts by me is hardly a free for all, nor a lecture.

Of course she's not happy, its the subject of just about every thread she ....

Oh get over yourself mate! :p Have you read ANY of my threads? No wait, don't answer that, I don't care!

Obviously we agree on thatit's simple common sense :p and while it has not been said directly, people have been getting at it.
"Your much too overweight" "I am shocked you have to ask" "please think of your health" "seeting yourself up for a lifetime of problems" ect are not exactly well thought out responses to a young girl, are they?
I wonder what the responce would be if in a couple of months she had stopped eating/started throwing up to shift some weight-would you be pleased you were so cruel then?(and I know you are far too normal to do that TG! Just saying and hoping that the posters think a little about their choice fo words-next one may not be someone as well adjusted as you).

TG is a smart kid with her life ahead of her,she will do what she feels right and have a blast doing it :)

Thank you! :o
I hope she got her answer, then had some sense and stopped reading this thread!

T_G i hope you have a fab holiday you are really lucky!!! how are you getting to ireland? by boat or by plane? x :)

Thanks guys :D

Eep, we are DRIVING aaaalllll the way to Dublin, and driving all around the republic. It's gonna be mad fun :D

Brilliant response and very very true!!!!

TG, you are well liked on this forum. You are a lovely HHO'er! Well done for being so sensible and ignoring such ridiculous responses from some posters. I certainly wouldnt have been able to do the same!! I admire you.

Have a great holiday and am looking forward to piccies :D

I would personally say that yes you are too big but i dont think that that would be your biggest problem.
Your riding is coming on heaps recently as we have seen in your pics and vids and you are progressing so well.
Te thing i would be more worried about is that because of your height and leg length etc, your legs will go around the pony and in order to get your leg on if you need to you will be having to bring your leg back which can lead to some really bad habits.
I used to ride ALOT of 12 hand ponies as im not overly tall (5ft3) and i was just under 8 stone so i used to ride all of the ponies that needed backing and schooling etc. I used to really enjoy it but i have got really long legs and unless you are really concious about keeping your leg forward and not letting it creep back when trying to find a bit of pony to squeeze, nudge with your legs etc you do find bad habbits setting in.
Also, unless you are used to riding sharp small ponies.....they can be absolute sods! When they decide to stop suddenly or stick their heads down.......there is nothing there at all in front of you, and anything naughty they do is as quick as lightning, so unless you have a seat of iron......you can easily find yourself on the floor alot!
So whilst i would say you probably are a bit heavy for a small pony, although its not going to do the pony any harm by sitting on it and walking around for a short time.....i think it would be a shame to see you spoil what amazing progress you have been making recently.
Really hope you enjoy your riding holiday, cant wait to see your pics, i would love to do one they sound amazing! have the time of your life :-)
