I've just started riding my pony again. Do you think I look too big?

No I think height wise your fine. You foot is at the same height as pony's belly. As long as your pony's happy to carry you (seems to) I'd say no problem.

I don't think your pony has a problem carrying you, and you seem to have short legs, but you have a tall body, and from an aesthetic point of view, I think you look too tall for him.

Only tall in the body, certainly not in the length of leg, so no you are not too big or too heavy (by the photos), you see many pony and adult combinations like yourself in the show ring.

It really depends on how you feel though, how much horse or pony you like to have underneith you and for what your wanting to do, if you take it seriously or are currently riding/competing for a bit of fun.

If your happy, your saddle fits both you and the pony, then there is nothing to feel silly about, your not doing any pony squishing thats for sure! :)

Yes I think you're too tall for him.

I disagree with this......mainly because I am 'too tall' for Zoomy :D However, I'm never sure what this means as it totally depends how you feel - I don't feel awkward or unbalanced on Zoom so as long as you feel comfortable, I think it's fine.

I am sure he has no problem at all carrying you but from an aesthetic point of view, you do look on the tall side, yes.

your legs look fine, your body looks a little tall but this is only a cosmetic aspect. You dont look at all like your would be too heavy.

You're certainly not too heavy, and i don't even think you look too tall. I think people are too used to seeing tiny people on 16.2 warmbloods so anything normal looks tall to them.

Not at all. Like others have said, you don't look too heavy, your legs aren't too long you've just got a long body. Pony seems to be carrying you fine.

Thanks Guys,

Especially to people who say i have a long body because i'm used to be being told i have short legs and that way seems much kinder :D

I'm not planning on doing much with him, just general hacking and a bit of schooling to keep him fit, so asthetics isn't really a problem.

I do most of my riding on a nearly 16hh tb so it just felt a bit odd so i thought i'd check. :)

It probably feels wierder than it looks. After riding horses ponies just seem to have no neck but after a while you'll aclimatize ( eek spelling ) You are not too heavy and only slightly long in the back ( like me) but he looks quite happy so go and enjoy. I am sure he is much happier doing stuff than bored in the field.

Ditto, tall yes. Heavy, no way!

More of a big horse person myself, but you obviously enjoy him so carry on doing :D

Have fun

:)

Don't be daft, he's not hollowing because of her weight. If he was then there is something wrong with his back, he should be fine to carry her.
As an adult pony rider I don't worry about my legs coming below the belly sometimes. If the pony is well trained your legs are still effective. There is no rule about legs being too long when it comes to the world of riding ponies, go watch some native classes sometime. Or vids of Icelandic horses being ridden.

Well if your too big for him then some one had better tell the men out in Mongolia and a lot of the cowboys in America they are too big for their horses and then I am completly buggered as my new girl is only 14.1hh.

On the upside if you are too big send him my way he looks like fun :D
