HONEST opinions please- it looks like i am going to be keeping harry for abit longer as he will be pretty impossible to sell, and we are getting on really well at the moment anyway, but obviously i cant carry on riding him if im too big..

i dont know how tall i am, but i weigh about 9 stone, i proberbly wont have another major growth spurt again but i may put a bit of weight on i guess (but i will try not to obviously lmao!

). Harrys a welsh sec. D cob, 14.2hh, abit fat at the moment but when he is hunting he is very lean, although he is a strong sort i guess...

here is the most recent pic of me on him (was taken on tuesday, bear in mind i am rising to the trot in this pic):

PLEASE be honest, i dont want you all saying im the perfect size on him etc if im not!

No you're not too big for him and you obviously ride in a balanced way so he'll cope fine with your weight.
However, I do think maybe you're doing too much too soon after his long break

Stop worrying. Section D's are strong ponies, and capable of carrying WAYYYY more than 9stone!!! I hunted my old 14.2hh who was a lean cob type, I am 5'7 and weigh a bit more than 9stone (

) and he never had a prob. Quit worrying!

Weight wise - certainly not.
Height wise - I wouldn't worry until it's your legs knocking down jumps rather than Harry's.

no you are no where near too bog but why can't you sell him? Didn't you buy him to work on him and sell on while your other one was lame?

I dont think you are too big for him, although i was slightly concerned to see you had been out and competed after on ly a week of him being back in work

i would still be on walking road work to strengthen his legs up again - but then i suppose im a worrier.

No way! I am 9 and a half stone and 5ft 4ins and my Welshie D is the same sort of height. I think my boy could do with a bit more weight on his back at times to make him bounce about less! Perhaps I should invest in some lead!!!

ok thank you for the opinions

its been 2 weeks, understand that it is proberbly abit soon but i had to hack up there anyway to give my sister a lead up there, and he is a "hard knock", i know i proberbly am rushing it abit but as soon as he starts telling me that i am rushing him then i will stop- but at the moment he is loving it, he is so much happier than he used to be- i think the fact that he doesn't buck anymore like he used to is a big indication that something is going right... but he is just having a relaxed week of hacking etc again now. if he isnt happy, trust me- he will let me know!

although i do understand where you are both coming from and therefore dont want to argue about it or anything..

No way are you too big. I'm 5'10" and used to ride my 14.1 fell. She was wide enough to take my leg and strong enough to take my weight. We had a great time together.

No way, adult men can easily ride section D's. Im about you weight and ride Pip, (13.3 light weight) and get no strange looks except we are the only pony at the show!
