I am taking my horse x-country training for the first time on Friday and I am VERY excited. Bearing in mind I am 30 *cough cough* someting and I haven't done x-country since I last had a horse when I was in Pony Club it is going to be the first time in a while and I can not wait. I used to be a bit of a speed demon when I was younger (although who isnt at that age) and although I am much less brave than I used to be I can not wait to get my ex steeplechaser out for a serious blast. Although I have warned friends at work that if I don't turn up again after the Easter weekend it is because I never managed to stop him

Not at all!
I love xc schooling, because sometimes it gives you a huge boost when things go well to push yourself that little bit further, and do things that are above your level in competition, but in the safety of a schooling enviroment do-able.
Only thing I found with my ex-racer, he didn't get waiting his turn in a group! So I just kept him busy the whole time!
Enjoy

Thats not old Im 46 and wanted to do my first xc this year but my horse decided he needed surgery instead. He did a practice as a 5 year old and we both loved it the adreneline still rushes when I think about it.Im hoping we can start again next year by this time my daughter will have overtaken me which really p*** me off although I love watching her it was my childhood dream and I now have share it.lol
My boy is a ex racer so we went a bit faster than I anticipated .

I was 30-something the first time I ever went over a XC jump ever! At least you've done a bit in PC. I grinned from ear to ear for about a week after wards. I haven't done any XC for about 2 years due to Lude's injury and on 12 April the course on our yard opens for the first time this year. I'm already very nervous but we've done some SJ over the winter, I can't wait to get galloping out across the grass and flying over the jumps (hopefully with ponio still underneath and not me flying solo!

Have fun tomorrow.
