I am looking for a sensible allrounder for me and my mum to share. Not looking for a world beater - low level RC and sponsored rides. Budget £3000 - Must be easy and no quirks. Cannot seem to find anything in my price - around 16hh and 8 -12yrs. Have been looking for 2 months. Don't really want to travel far. I am in kent so surrounding areas, sussex surrey essex. I found two on horse mart. what do people think of these 3 - last one a bit of a wild card - Younger and over budget! Thanks for your help in advance!

I'm horse hunting too! Looking for something a little younger though, and can't seem to find anything in my budget which matches what I want!

Have you considered a TB? You can get some very safe ones, and they're so cheap...

Thanks for this. I have tried to call first and second but no answer. still not sure about the third. My mum is 13 stone so can't really have a tb. She likes something in front of her and the first two look ideal

I don't think your being unrealistic. Thing is everyone is looking for the same thing....me too! Although I am looking in the South West and most of the horses I am interested in are either up North or in Kent! So you should be able to find something suitable.

I prefer the 2nd one :)

Yes, I know where she's coming from! :D

There is a place, Kent Horse Producers, who have some really nice, solid, allrounder sorts, but they are usually really really expensive!

The first is my fave, he looks a star :) I saw one that looks a nice type in Gwynedd, is that too far for you?

I thhink the type you are looking for are the most indemand at the moment, I think they are out they just hard to find.
I'd like something similar in the North East!
Good luck

Maybe a touch, yes. You're describing the horse that so many people are looking for. My friend is looking for exactly the same at the moment but they're like hens teeth. She's looked in the past too for the same and didn't find one then either. I've got one but I bought her as a 2 yr old and made her myself (and got lucky with her temprement!).

I like the 2nd one best, then the first. Not fussed about the 3rd. Have you thought about lowering the age bracket. We have had 2 x 5 year olds. First was difficult, but we felt that this is just her, she was still difficult 3 years later. Our 2nd 5 year old, a 15.2 cob is an absolute saint, even though she is green she isnt spooky or a mickey taker. Good luck with your hunt.

All three are nice. Can't see the second or third properly. Third is too expensive in this market, so could be in your budget. First one looks a sensible, fun horse that would suit you both and go to a higher level (at the mo) than the other two.

I'd probably go and look at the first one.
Would want to know why the second one, when you googled the phone number, brought up an identical advert for a horse 20 years old.
The third one, again when googling the phone number, brings up a lot of varied horse adverts for a "private seller"

Im looking for a 16.1-16.3 horse at the moment and dont want a TB. Ive been looking around teh same time as you but would consider a youngster (broken) to bring on but I cant find anything. The horses Ive seen have had problems, 1 had breathing problems. 1 had a sarcoid and 1 was a crib biter/windsucker. The others Ive seen were nuts and I wasnt risking my neck getting on. Im up North. Im considering putting an ad on one of the websites. Ive put one on Preloved.

I like the second one, The first is nice too but I'm a bit cautious about buying greys. The 3rd looks a little green over the jump. keep looking they are about!!!

If they are really good they arn't for sale IMO and you'd need a lot of luck to be first in the queue when one does come up as they tend to go locally, very quickly and by word of mouth.

I wanted what you are looking for and in the end I bought a burnt out and out of it's mind, potentally dangerous SJ in the hope of turning her around one day.

It took me 18 months, a lot of patience and understanding but I now have a fantasic best friend whom I can trust always. We understand each other and she's more than I ever dreamed she would be.

It was a hell of a gamble I know, but if some one were to offer me £20,000 today, I wouldn't sell. That's how valuable they can become.

Look local and outside of the box, dismiss nothing even the vices on your list without first viewing. There'll one out there for you just waiting in the field, if only you are patient.

Good Luck!!

Elsbells - true but I dont want a horse that crib bites/windsucks dont mind one that weaves tho just not a windsucker or a horse that has sarcoids. Looks like Im going to be looking for a while.

Have to admit I don't mind grey's but that grey I'm not fussed on. Second one hard to see much picture too dark. 3rd one looks nice but alot of money although does say ono?
