The horse in the stable next to mine has thick yellow mucus that is getting spread towards my horses stable. Having been on another yard with strangles, I am aware that I may be being overcautious. The YO saw and just cleared it up and shrugged it off but its his wife who is the horsey one. Do I just keep schtum and hope whatever it is doesnt spread? I dont want to upset anyone unnecessarily. I know it might be nothing but it could be something quite infectious! The horses owners are fairly novice about this sort of thing and I dont know if they would think anything of it. Am I being a crazy person and just need to chill out? Advice please!!

Personaly, I would speak to yo wife, and the owners of the horse, may not be strangles but may still be an infection of some sort, and should be investgated.

This.

Are you going to feel worse that the unhorsey YO may be a bit miffed. Or if horse ends up having to have longer vet treatment than necessary or yard infected as it wasn't nipped in the bud if there is a problem.

I wouldn't speak to anyone else about it though and would let both parties know that, but definitely would advise YO wife and the owners.
