Sorry sat here typing really upset even having a little cry, my loan horse who i have had for two years who i was ment to be buying is going back to her owner on saturday. All was going really well till march 07 when she became lame whilst out riding after weeks and visits to the vets she was diagnosed with pedal osteitis and in july finally came sound. She has been slowly brought back into work since August time, every thing fine but obviously had chat with owner saying i still would like to buy her but not till after the winter as i'd like to make sure she would still be ok for what i wanted to do on her. well this tuesday evening i get a phone call saying she wanted £2500.00 for her and if i wouldnt pay her she would come and get her and sell her on. Am absolutely gutted especially as we had come on so well, and having paid all vets fees (luckily had insured her) and i know she will be sold on without future purchasers not being told about her condition., trouble is the owner doesnt believe she has got this condition even though i took her with us to the vets to see the xrays and speak to the vet, i know its very raw at the moment and OH has said maybe by her doin this maybe she has saved me from alot of heartache in the future as nobody knows how long the mare could stay sound. Sorry about my ramblings but feel that i have been took for a mug and am so worried about what sort of home she will end up with.

Oh honey what a shame, sounds like the owner wants the mare off her hands ASAP just in case she goes lame again and her value drops.

To be perfectly honest PO is degeneritive so sad as it is for you your OH may well be right in the long run

(((((((hugs)))))))))

What a sad situation, hugs to you.

But being practical.....what if the owner collects her, takes her home and advertises her for sale....if you could find her advert is there any way that you might buy her on the quiet? Say, get a friend to see and buy her for you?

(((((((((Hugs)))))))))))

I have had loan horses for quite a few years and its so sad when they have to go back

Its out of your control and there is nothing you can do.
I hope his owners see sense for you.xxx

((((((((hugs)))))))) think in the long run it is for the best, especially if there is a possibility the horse may not stay sound. £2500 is a stupid amount to pay for a horse like that. Hope you don't feel down for too long.

in the long run (harsh as it seems) it is for the best, you would have had nothing but heartache and expense....I know you must feel awful as you feel for the horse and how it may be treated etc, but honestly its best if you dont own it not too throw your money away however much you love this horse.

If you need something to play with I have a lovely oldie who is full of beans that needs someone to love and pamper him, he is bored stupid!
