AM Trust Equine

I insured with them last July as my NFU renewal was 40% higher than previous year. They were OK to deal with to insure but have excluded a lot things - they insisted I had a 2* vetting done and then excluded another leg! I have just had two claims with them. They've paid out for one but not the other. They wanted a lot of information for the claim including a full vetinary medical history then used that to decline the claim. I'm about to write to them to contest the non payment or at least I think they should honour half of it. I kinda wish I'd stayed with NFU because even though their renewal was huge, with hinsight, it would have been less than the money I'm now going to have to find to pay what they won't. Don't let my experience put you off, take a few other people's views before you decide.

I've been with them for the last 2 years, and have found them good to deal with. Haven't had to make a claim *touch wood* but researched them before and they seem fairly good at paying out. Good price (NFU was exorbitant!), haven't excluded anything and didn't need a vetting done as he is insured for under the price they require it (think its £3000 from memory)

I think they are brilliant. Lovely people to deal with. Very quick and painless to payout, I did have a very large clam after only owning a previous horse for a very short time. I have never had a problem with them excluding but then nothing had shown up on vettings that I have had.. Can't blame them for that if something does show up?

I really rate them.

I would of been with them for 3 years however they have refused to renew my insurance for my chestnut horse this is due to his claims history. So I'm sorry even though they paid out quickly on claims I can no longer recommend them as an insurance company I find what they have done to me very very shoddy & poor.

I'm in the process of cancelling my fillies policy with them.

I've been with them a year but never needed to claim. I went with them because NFU were so difficult to get a quote from and would never call back (I chased them 3 times). The lady I spoke to at Amtrust was so lovely.

I've been with them for 3 years and have had 2 huge claims in that time (over £2000 per claim). They have been excellent and paid up quickly and easily. On the 2nd claim they did request a clinical history for the horse (no doubt to check if she'd suffered from the condition before), but why shouldn't they. The people I dealt with were nice and very horsey so I would recommend

I have had 2 medical claims and 1 saddlery claim with this company.

They did ask for a full clinical history for one of my claims, but they are good people to deal with and responded quickly.

When I was looking for a new insurance company a short while ago I asked my vet who they would recommend and who to avoid, they were one they said to avoid as they are part of E&L and would not treat horses insured by either. Not sure if this is true but I avoided them and went with South Essex.

They are nothing to do with E&L, they are a company in their own right and they underwrite all of their own policies (unlike Equestrian Direct, who went out of business and left those of us insured with them to *attempt* to claim from the underwriter, Templeton).

I have my boy insured with Amtrust and they just asked for a copy of his passport when I started the policy. I had my last horse insured with them for years and although they initially turned a claim down, they agreed to pay out when my vet wrote to them (they claimed pre-existing condition but when the vet argued, they admitted they didn't know enough about the condition to have said that). They paid my vet directly, into their bank account, within 48 hours of receiving invoices.

My vet always says Amtrust are OK to deal with and pay up. I have an exclusion on my policy, from my previous policy with a different insurer, which Amtrust have said they will consider removing if my vet writes to them.

I have all 3 of mine with them, got a 5% discount for 2nd and 3rd I insured. never claimed, has 2 stage vetting with the 16 year old TB, and 5 stage with other 2 (came from dealers)
The vet said they are ok to deal with. Would reccomend, but then in 3 years I have never claimed, am either v v lucky or horses are carefull!!!!!!!!!!!!
