Amateur Competitors

I do tend to try and buy good quality stuff which can be expensive but the up side is that it lasts for YEARS!!!

For example my travel boots that I bought some.....er......at least 17 years ago and are still going strong! My current horse has almost destroyed my brushing boots......that I bought about 16 years ago..... Thankfully, whenever I have lost a horse and so bought a new one, all my rugs have fitted and apart from replacing a NZ last year when horse fell and completely ripped the guts out of it I honestly cannot remember when I last had to buy a rug. This horse is also wearing the same saddle cloths as the one before her, and the one before that too....... Don't get me wrong if she needs something she gets it but I do not have enough money just to buy something in fashion or tp be matchy matchy! All my stuff is good, not frayed, clean, smart and simple because I take care of it cos I cannot afford to keep replacing things.

I even have the same lead rope that I bought for my first ever horse 25 years ago...... (would like to insert embarrased face here but not sure how too)........ :)

Price never comes into it for me, positively or negatively. I buy my horse what I genuinely feel would benefit it. She's in a NS bit - because she was ridden previously in it, by people whose opinion I trust. She has an albion saddle for the same reason and a comfort bridle because I have previous good experiences of them.

She has a mixture of rugs in all price ranges, again because I've been happy enough with previous performances.

However I wear budget everything, most of my riding clothes are from ebay :) because they don't affect my performance or welfare :) same with numnahs (think she only has one brand new) and boots etc
