I would say they are possibly from the same Sire, Obviously cannot say.
Could you contact the people that your friend got Penny from and see if they have another mare called Tessy?
Does seem odd, 2 mares coming from the same area both in foal
but who knows

Tess was from Cambridgeshire way not Peterborough im going to say it's unlikely but you never know ! How big is he ? i think its a colt

Me! My mare went to stud a couple of years ago, but didn't take, so I bought one but didn't get it, the oposite of BOGOF!
This thread makes me want to go to York sales and buy a suspiciously fat coloured cob and cross my fingers!

Have had ridiculous trouble with laptop/router/internet connection all evening!!
OK, Major Apologies! When daughter and I got to the yard we were told that Penny's colt/little man/he is really a SHE!
Apparently YO thought "it" was a colt first thing this morning, the vet was probably more interested in the afterbirth and didn't correct anyone, so that's what we were all told , and having taken photos over the stable door I didn't have cause to disagree! Tonight we were greeted with the update but the little darling was lying down dozing and feet towards us and I reckon we would have sussed anyway
The latest is that Penny's filly foal is to be called Willow.
I have some video so will try to put it on here.

Peterborough is in Cambridgeshire so a distinct possiblity I'd say. They are both beautiful
