Last weekend our yard held its first show for all liveries. I've only had kasper for 2 months but wanted to have a go at as much as I could.

SATURDAY

Satuday started with dressage. Walk/trot test was first and we rode an okay test, Kasper is currently resistant to the rein contact so we did a good giraffe all the way around. We got 4th place.

Then was prelim 18 - again resistant to contact but a slightly better test that time. We got 3rd place

Next followed our first ever attempt at dressage to music. I picked my music and compiled my own test to match. Despite Kasper taking a suspicious dislkie to the van playing the music we completed it well and we're over the moon with 2nd place! The judge commented on how well my music matched Kaspers paces.

(I am working on not tipping forward)

After the dressage it was time for showjumping. Chico was not a natural jumper so i havent really jumped for a long long time, but Kasper seems to enjoy it so we had a go.

First class was the 2 foot, only 2 of us in the class and Kasper took me round an amazing clear round. He was a super star and boy for a big lad he can turn some tight corners. We earned ourselves a 1st place :)

Next was the 2'3. We jumped another fantastic clear to get into the jump off but then my inexperience brought a pole down. We finished the day with a 4th. Super proud of him.

SUNDAY

Sunday was showing day!
After turning up early at the yard to get him re-plaited I spent the first 20 muintes sponging his head and neck down after he had obviously been using poo as a pillow all night, thanks for that Kasper.

Our first class was in-hand coloured and spotted where he plodded around after me like a little lost puppy. We gained a 4th place

Next we had a go in the ridden classes.

First was Best Rider. I was nervous becasue I am not the best rider on the yard and the other two competitors are much more experienced than me but I figred I'd just have a go. Went in to do our individual show and OMG Kasper was amazing, think it was the best I have ever ridden. The other two competitors did superbly but a few little mistakes by them saw me get 1st place!! I was gobsmacked, but gave me so much confidence in myself.

Then was ridden coloured and spotted where i reverted back to a few bad habits and we came away with a respectable 3rd place.

(Sadly no photos atm of ridden classes)

Then came the novelty classes!!

We had a go in Most Handsome Gelding and Kaspers chunky stamp won over the judge and we got another 1st place.

Last class of the day was Fancy Dress and had decided to give it a go just for a laugh. Had so much fun preping some of the items. Spent a day at work last week making dreamcatchers and gods eyes, hat band, jewelry and bridle decorations etc. I was brilliant, so so so much fun and everyone who took part looked amazing. Was a fantastic end to the weekend and we grabbed a 2nd place.

We had a yard bbq to complete the weekend and I havent had so much fun for ages.

I am just over the moon with Kasper though, he did everything I asked of him, no quibble, no sillyness, and no matter how badly I asked it. He spent 2 days without turnout and just stood patiently in his stable between classes. Words can describe how much of a pleasure it is to have him. I did more with Kasper those two days than I did with Chico in 3 years. I am so excited for the future.

Sorry for the long post but just so proud of our achievements.

Lovely, sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, pictures are great especially your fancy dress! Well done :) I think I must have missed what happened to Chico?

Aw well done sounds fab! I have my first local walk and trot dressage this weekend and although I am pretty sure we will come last I'm really looking forward to it! From your post it sounds like fun was the word of the day!
