Hi All

We have all been told to keep an ICE (In Case of Emergency) number of a person to contact in case of emergency so that your family can be informed should something terrible happen. Quick thought though - if you have a screen lock on your phone can the emergency services still access your contacts?? (Sorry just one of those random things that pops into my head, am hoping the collective wisdom of HHO will know the answers - you lot usually do!!)

No they can't (well not at scene anyway) although the technology is probably available.
I have a gel case on my phone with a piece of paper inside with ice contact & home no. incase someone finds my phone.

Scherazade, have a look on the British Equestrian Identity Service (BEIDS) website, they do wrist bands that you wear then riding or put on the saddle that people can use to contact relevant others.
 
No, but you could stick it on a label on the back of your phone. Don't put it inside your hat though (or at least don't put the only copy inside your hat!). I had mine on a luggage label on my saddle.

Thanks, I will take a look at this.

And thanks everyone, given me some good ideas. My screenlock is mostly just to prevent my bottom from making random calls while my phone is in my pocket so I guess I could try to make it simpler to remove. I think it's worthwhile thinking about though as not something I had considered til today although I have had an ICE contact for a few months (in my locked phone - d'oh)

I've got 3 ICE's in my phone, and also have a small velcro pouch thing attached to my horses saddle, inside is all relevant numbers you could ever need if I was to fall off and he was to ****** off... numbers stored in there include myself, my friend who could collect horse if I was hurt, my boyfriend, YO, vet, plus my home address and stables address.
 
you can on a Samsung galaxy - if you add a group called emergency contacts then all they have to do is press the emergency call button at the buttom of the screen and it allows access into the group as well as being abel to call 999
 
My phone forces you to put a lock on it which is annoying as my ICE contacts are now useless! When riding alone I always put on a plastic "medic alert" band with my emergency contact on, just in case.
