Hi can anyone tell me if this is an American collar please and therefore permissable in affiliated dressage as I don't have a stock and don't like them anyway. I am doing my first affiliated test next week and always compete unaffiliated dressage and show jumping with a white collar and show shirt with diamante horseshoe brooch in the middle of the collar and it looks really nice and not over the top at all.

I am feeling very nervous about this competition as I really want to do well.

Thank you.

You will get away with it but a stock would look better. How about a ready tied one that you just velcro round your neck to save you the trouble of tieing a stock with nervous fingers.

What colour is your jacket?

From the BD website:

Preliminary to Advanced Medium Tests – Uniform, short jacket or tweed coat with correctly tied stock,
white American Collar or shirt and tie, hunting cap, bowler hat, crash cap, or dressage topper.

Though I dont think people use them much, they are certainly allowed.

Hi my jacket is navy with gold buttons. I do have one but I bought it years ago and when I wear it I feel like I am being slowly strangled.

Hi IMR I'd already read that on the BD website but I wasn't sure what an amercian collar was. I would much prefer to wear one than a stock though.

you'll be 100% fine with that! don't worry!

Thanks Eva, gosh I am nervous. Its not the actual test that worries me its getting in other peoples way in the collecting ring. i never do with show jumping but with dressage everyone comes at you from different angles and I just want to hide away in a corner until my test comes.:(

They are allowed but they dont look quite right IMO, they are more associated with showjumpers !

I used to hate the strangeled feeling too so I bought a bib stock that velcros around your neck so you can wear it loose but it still looks correct. The stock you tie yourself and then just pin into place so it doesnt have the flat look that the pretied ones can have but you also dont have to fiddle around with it on show day you just velcro it on :)

eta I cant think of the name of the company but il look at my stock when I get home, they have some really lovely designs all for about £15-20
