American gag v Dutch gag - difference?

As per the post really. How are they different? I've ridden in an american gag, but not a dutch gag.
 
if you mean physical differences, pretty sure their main difference is just that the american gag is curved, at the top and bottom (where cheek pieces and reins go) but a dutch gag's rings are all in a straight line
 
i'm not a bit expert at all but basically the action is much different- a dutch gag isn't really a 'gag' bit...its more correct really to call them a three ring bit... hope that helps! :)
