Had a recent saddle fitting and it was determined that my Black Country no longer fits. The fitter is suggesting an Amerigo DJ mono flap as my horse is hard to fit with a high wither and long straight back. Its a lot pricier even for a used one here. Had anyone had one and what are they like?

Lovely quality, would expect to pay more than for a BC one, the horse we had one for loved it from day 1 as did the rider, after trying a lot of less expensive ones it was a worthwhile investment.

Good to know. I liked the saddles but since just replacing my western saddle and spending 6 months paying it off I wanted to make sure the investment is good. The issue is I would only use it for 6 hours per week and since she’s quoting me $6k-$7k new it’s a huge investment. I’d prefer used but I can see it taking quite a while to find.

I tried one for my girl, it was fabulous quality but did not quite fit her shape. She is also flat backed, and an Equipe Emporio really suits her, I bought one after researching saddles for flat backs on here. It was also a lot cheaper than an Amerigo, despite being great quality.

I have Amerigo dressage saddles, and I love them, fabulous quality, and the ones I have fit my three different shaped horses perfectly. The horses have all developed their topline muscles really well, and the saddles can be width adjusted to a certain degree. I also find them fantastic from a riding point of view, they allow me to be in a good position without fixing and blocking me in place. The negative is of course the price, but I have managed to get mine second hand.

Thanks for the advice all. I think they’re the right way to go then if I can find one that fits. I’m hoping for second hand ideally. Sadly it might take a while, but hoping not too long.
