Hi,
After having a medium seat Jaguar xks for 8 yrs, it somehow started to rub me 'down there' :o I didnt have much choice when I bought it due to my horse being short coupled and it fit him great but not so much me. (17 in max for him, I needed a 17.5) The sweeping back style allowed me that extra room.

So I decide I cant put up with what looks like nappy rash  and the blisters  so last xmas was told things have moved on and I now had more choice. I got a made to measure Albion Ultima (different panels) and it was bliss and he moved so much better, it was amazing. Then we had fitting problems and its been back and forth to the saddler since.

Last week, saddler said enoughs enough, it wont fit and pretty much cant be made to fit and that I could have a new one. So Im back to the sweeping back style of the Jaguar and funds mean I cant and dont want to spend any more money.

My choices are Amerigo Vega, another Jaguar but the deep seat this time or an Selerina Equippe. Ive dismissed the latter as its foam filled and cant be easily altered. The Vega has a synthetic tree, is this worse than a wooden one and I love the Jaguar bit am scared the new one may rub too???

I feel the Vega is more suited to a petite person. What do you think?
Any reviews more on the Vega?

Maybe I should just buy a new horse :)

Thanks for getting this far :D

I can't speak for the vega dressage saddle, but I have a vega jump saddle and I love it, I am quite short from hip to knee and I sit snugly inside it, I had it brand new a few years back and it still looks brand new when all clean and shiney, but you have to go for what feels comfy to you and the horse! :)

The vega are lovely saddles, My friend has an Equippe and absolutely adores hers. I have a Luc Childeric french close contact saddle that has latex panels as Will has no wither, big shoulders and a back like a table top. Its been fantastic! :)

Edited to say that my saddle is a 'sweeping back' saddle cos Will is short coupled too.

I have a vega and adore it. I am not a petite person, and am very long hip to knee! Strangely a friend has ridden my horse in my vega and loved it, but hated it on her horse so maybe worth trying one if you can

Thanks for the replies.

I have tried the Equippe and felt really secure but I could feel the pommel quite a lot 'down there' ;) more so than my Jaguar. After reading something about the foam filling I asked the saddler today if it could be altered, thinking horses do change shape, saddles mould and often need reflockling and he said no it cant be tweaked so often a pad is needed if its minor adjustment but the tree can be altered if the adjustment is more. I dont really want that, just in case as it will be my luck to need a pad under my new relatively expensive saddle within months.

Im 5' 7 and a size 12 but my backside seemed to hang off the sides of the delicate seat of the vega, where as the Jaguar seemed a bit wider in the seat.
The vega was lovely and comfy but has a synthetic seat, the Jaguar seemed hard in comparison but is on a wooden tree. This was sitting on them in the shop today but saddler will be coming out to fit soon.
I was always led to believe a wooden tree is better. Maybe Im just getting bogged down with stupid things that dont really matter???

Its awful spending so much money and having so little choice. I like the Amerigo's but they were over £1000 dearer and I cant justify spending that. The saddle is worth more than my horse :D

Ive never heard of Luc Childeric saddles but just googled it and they look gorgeous. Why doesnt my saddler sell them
