Ok dont know how true this is but its doing the rounds on the grape vine
Amersham horses and ponies will be auctioned next month at Henley in Arden market.
The auction will take place on the 1st saturday of the month-not sure off hand what date that is.

So in other words he can get all his dealer mates to go and buy the horses back for him? Surely the RSPCA wouldn't let them be auctioned when they have said they have been inundated with rehoming offers for them... doesn't makes sense.

the RSPCA doesn't own them..Jamie Grey does.

as for him receiving monies from the sale of these ponies...i'm not entirely sure he will....the actual terms of sale haven't been stated, also knowing what goes on at a sale, you can bet your bottom dollar tat they'll go for top wack if he is to receive any money.

the best thing that ANYONE on here can do is this...

DO NOT GO TO HENLEY...DO NOT BID.......

then you can be sure of not fuelling the prices......

YOU WILL NOT BE "RESCUING" THESE ANIMALS.....

Maybe that is why they are advertising the auction, so suckers for a sob story will bid like hell on them

I just think it's soo wrong if her gets any money from the sales or any of the ponies back. Am I thinking right, basically he has had all the ponies & Donkeys veterinary treated and nursed from appalling conditions and then they could go back into his 'care'. If so I just don't understand the system.

and this is where things will be played to JG's advantage ..IF he gets the proceeds...

the ponies will come in...joe public will clamour to buy them AT ANY COST...so the "ring" will bid them up...by the "ring" i mean the regular dealers will bid on them once they have latched on to a member of the public who is determined to "win" at any cost...

PLEASE IF YOU REALLY WANT TO HELP THESE HORSES.....

DON'T GO...............JUST DON'T GO..................

I agree with what's been said about the potential auction, but what will happen to the horses if no "sucker for a sob story" buys them? I assume this a*sehole's dealer mates will buy them and they'll do the rounds of the sales.
Poor creatures.

JM7 - But I read your post on Latest News and you have said that you're going to the auction to see if you can buy a few.

if we all go but no one bids for them what happens then? Do the RSPCA get them back? When these horses were taken away did they all have passports? if not is JG being prosecuted for that?
How can we find out if he will recieve the proceeds of the sale?

I totally agree with JM. This is my local auction and I have seen the ring push the prices up to stupid amounts! I do have to add though that it states that 80 of these horses and ponies will be going to auction. I'm not sure HiA can actually hold that many horses????

I absolutely hate Henley. Littered with gypsies, dealers and meat men.
I just home these horses/ponies/donkeys don't end up back in the same hands.

Some questions.

Why has the judge said the horses are to be sold? Who does the money go to? Is it to recoup the costs of the police operation during the raid on JG's farm?

What is the RSPCA's take on the judge's decision? Is there any formal statement from them? Are they planning to use their substantial wealth to appeal against the decision? If not, why not?

They have the money, the power and access to top lawyers to reverse the ruling.

Come on RSPCA, pull your finger out for God's sake!!!!

I just think that all of this just makes a total fool of all of those connected with Operation Esther, from anyone who donated, organised all the collections, rescued the horses and gave them the care they required. Absolute nonsense. Surely if he is found guilty of the charges, then he would be banned from keeping horses, so what is the point of sending any back to him before they know the outcome of the case. It also makes a backside of the new animal health and welfare act.

Is there no way for the RSPCA to appeal the judges decision? Those poor animals deserve a good end to their lives.. not to go to the sales, it really doesn't give you faith in our legal system does it..

I certainly hope so. Nuffield has posted a link on page 1 of this which says that the RSPCA and ILPH are fighting it.
What was the point, all that effort by everyone concerned and these poor animals are just going to have to go thro' it all again. The law is an ass.

O M G!!

That is utterly stupid. This makes me so angry, why did all the charities get involved to save these animals if they are just going to send them back again. What was the point??

jg has to pay about £160,000 cost to the rspca, the money that the horses make at auction will pay the rspca,
so i for 1 will be there, the rspca get the money, and hopefully the horses get good homes
