AMIGO rugs - any good?

As title really- Jack needs a new lightweight turnout and I have seen one of these priced at under £30. I know they're by the same company that do Rambo and Rhino so just wondered what people's experiences of them were?

mine leaked like a sieve, they have gave my a replacement but it's not rain yet to test this one

Yes....but.....the coloured and cheaper ones tend to only have 600d outer which makes them less waterproof, Ok in a light shower but not in persistant rain, if you go for the navy version they have 1200d outer and are much better but a bit more money...still good value though I think.

I like them, for the money... Splashed out on a rambo which you can change the lining in though, my horse has worn it rain or shine for as long as ive had him and still as new... expensive but a useful investment!

Ah maybe that's what happened with the poster aboves? I may well just stick to Weatherbeeta then as they've never let me down. His bloody new Mark Todd though has already rubbed his shoulders bare.

I have several Amigo rugs. they are now on their second year of use. my horses live out 24/7.
i find them to be excelllent. no problems with any of them, i have light wt ,med wt and heavy wt ,with and without necks.
I also have Rambo rugs with are also excellent.
I prefer the Amigo to the rhino which i think is expensive for the quality.

I'm saving for one of those - Rambo Duo I think it's called. You get all sorts of thickness of liners which fit in your machine. Great idea but yeah think they're around £250 RRP - just as well I work part time in a tack shop and get staff discount.

I think they're great rugs had no probs with them, prefer rambo's but always buy amigo lightweights as much cheaper and just as durable. Great fit on my TB too. Would def go for the 1200 denier one though (navy) opposed to the coloured ones as big difference in quality!

Ive got both amigo and rambos. rambos are much better quality. amigo are great for the money. Mine fit great. Not had any leak and on 2nd year now.

Quite happy with the Amigo lightweight turnout until another horse at the yard chewed big holes in it at the rump end (definitely affected its waterproofing.) Probably wouldn't suit a big chested type tho'

I have a summer Amigo turnout and going against the grain its been the best for waterproofness so far. I really liked how well made it was as well, However this is just a small 4'9 on a dinky pony, so maybe she just hides under trees too well.

I have 3. rainsheet, med & a heavy. (actually 4, have an insulator too)

ditto the bit about going a size bigger as they are quite neat. also ditto getting the 1200 denier rainsheet if your horse is hard on rugs, although b has the light blue/turquiosy one. it's gorgeous.

I don't think they are as thick or cosy as the likes of rambo or fal, but at that price, you can layer. B has a 450g Prem equine for the freezing side of winter. his amigo's do the rest of the year. none have ever soaked through either!.

Love em, great value for money.

I have the amigo rugs for my little ponies (11.2hh) and they are the best fitting rugs that I have found for them but they are too tight around the chest for any of the bigger horses.

I find that all horsewear rugs are too narrow, no matter what the build of horse or pony. I love Fal's though they do come up a size bigger than usual and are v £££. Bought a Weatherbeata nylon lined hw nz with removable neck this winter for one of ours and I have to say it's as good as the fal, if not quite so deep. And a snip at £80.

I've got an Amigo mediumweight which has never leaked or rubbed, however one of the clips at the front has come off. Also got a Rhino plus which fits well and never leaked, onto its third year now.

They are the cheaper part of the Rambo company, they are good value but I find them quite narrow on the chest/shoulders for my chunkier horses but fit my Anglo Arab well. My big guys have Rambo's

I have the lilac summer turnout

and so far it hasnt leaked or rubbed or broken...... yay

I bought exactly that a few weeks ago for my horse its a Red Light Weight (just shower proof) Amigo Rug, fits great, love the shape, nice and light and doesn't get all sweaty on the warm days, only cost me about £30.00....BARGAIN!

Absolutely love them. Have a MW turnout in its second year, no leaking, no rubbing and my mare is fairly wide in front.

My sister has the 600D LWs for both her boys and they have stood up brilliantly in the rain, although I would say they aren't designed for thuggy types who wreck rugs, but suit my mare fine.

I will only use Horseware rugs on her, as every single other make of rug I have ever tried rubs her within a day. She lives, even when stabled, in her Horseware turnouts (wug plus/amigos/rhino) and never ever gets rub marks.

I got her a weather beeta under rug when she was on box rest and it rubbed her within a day!

I think they are fab!

I had a hard time finding rugs to fit my arab and the Amigo LW fitted well. She was good on rugs and in the 2.5yrs I used it it never moved, leaked or rubbed.

Off the back of that I've bought more amigo l/w for my 2x TBs and QH. I've had to go up a size for them all. The QH is built like a tank and the other two have fairly decent chests and shoulders on them.

I've just bought the 2 x TBs and QH the Amigo Bug rugs and I'm really pleased with them. I didn't have to go up a size for them, the 6fts fitted perfectly.

I highly recommend cybercheckout. They have a shop and listings on ebay and you can find them through google. If you email them directly with what you are looking for they get back to you the same day and postage is usually only £2.99 and is incredibly fast.

I have the pink lightweight - brilliant, doesn't leak or rub. Also a navy medium weight, with detatchable neck, which is great.
So I bought the navy lightweight (slightly heavier than the coloured ones) last year, and it leaked so badly I took it back and got a refund, with which I bought the green plaid Rhino, which is great, even though slightly more expensive. I think my Amigo that leaked must have been a bad batch, or something, because I think that Amigos are generally very good.
