please can i have your opinions on them, are they roomy round the chest as they have the leg arches and not the pleat.
how deep are they, any feedback would be very much appriciated, thank you x

I like them they are roomy and deep enough for tb's and my ISH but would probably not be suited to a very chunky cob, being fairly light they do not pull back like some rugs do so no rubbing on the shoulders yet they are fairly warm and tough, for a rug in the mid price range I think they are good value.

My slim section B has them and they are often recommended for slight ponies so I personally wouldn't say they are generous around the chest

They do an XL version though for chunky equines but I wouldnt like to be drawn on at what point the standard one is not ok (if that makes sense!)

I am very impressed with the amigo (not the mio though which is the cheaper version) they are a decent depth and the cut is good

Amigo rugs are the only ones which have fit pretty much all the horses I have owned including my broad chested cob cross mare. I have owned mainly natives including NF's, Welsh sec Ds' and now an ID cross. They are deep enough to cover my ponies big tums well and don't rub their chests. I also have the stable rugs because I like the way they are slippy underneath so they move easily on their backs rather than pull back tightly on the shoulders. I have always gone for the ones with the detachable hoods which unfortunately they don't all have.

I really like them - horseware rugs are the only ones which fit my mare. Do be aware that they come up small though - my pony is normally a 5'3-5'6 in weatherbeeta/masta but is a 5'6-5'9 in horseware rugs. I have yet to see a horse that they don't fit, although I am sure there are some out there! If your horse is very big chested, I would be tempted to go for the XL range as they are not huge around the shoulders.

I really like them, they fit my broad chested beasties really well but as everyone else said you may need a size up.

I have one on my Welsh B, and am very impressed. It doesn't move around, and sits nicely on him. However, as others have said, you may need a size bigger; my pony is usually between 4'9 and 5' in rugs, but the 5' Amigo is quite a snug fit on him.

I do like them just wish my horse would stop destroying them. Make sure if your horse is a rug destroyer to not have haynets in the stable as they will catch the front of the rug onto the haynet and rip it open.

To be fair on amigo rugs though my horse has also destroyed a premier equine rug so it's also expensive ones he destroys. Don't put you off amigos just because of some silly horses that destroy everything in their path haha.

ditto my sec B has a 5ft, he takes 4'3 in premier equine!

I'm a big fan. I have a LW turnout and a HW combo stable rug for my mare, they fit her lovely and she's a chunky warmblood with a chunky neck. I find them true to size for her

I like the Amigo rugs and they fit our horses well, but none have really broad chests. They do have a few niggles, the front fastenings are not adjustable so there is not a lot of room for manoeuvre if they are not a perfect fit, plus as said above they do have a tendency to catch on haynets and electric fencing. If your horses are tough on rugs make sure you get the more expensive 1200 denier versions.

I find the Amigo rugs fit my little ISH well, however, he doesn't have the broadest chest in the world. He's a short coupled 15.2 and he wears a 6ft. Most rugs of other makes I have He has to have the front straps done up on the tightest setting. Buccas rugs seem to suit him too.

Love amigos..the only rug that really fits my cob x ( chunkyish lad) and it doesnt move at all re sliding to one side after a roll...and lasts forever...they also fitted my old tb well too but never had the thing of them coming up bigger than other brands?! I always found weatherbeeta generous in theor sizes ( dont use them)..

Leave them -

I brought 0ne and in less than a year it leaked so I got rid of it. Your better off with the Shire Tempest. I would never buy another - also did not like the fit on my big chested boy

The 1200d versions are great rugs IMO. I've got a couple that are a few years old and are still going strong. They fit my lightweight horses really well and I have bought them in the past for narrow youngstock because of this. For a chunky cob I would imagine that the XL version would be needed or possibly a chest expander, as they are not adjustable at the front.

We had a welsh pony lived out 24/7 and all rugs seemed to rub until we found amigo. Since then we have had amigos on everything and would not change to anything else.

We have never had a problem with leaking on any of them (although I find that once you have washed a rug even if you get it reproofed it is never as good as before) so we try to avoid washing any turnout rugs with detergents.

Thanks for all your replys, i found them very useful, however, i think i will give the rug a miss because of people saying about them getting caught up on the hay nets and fencing, my horse will defiantly get caught up even if theres a very slight chance.
So its back to the drawing board, thankyou x

Defo a Yeah. Have used on all mine who have been all shapes and sizes from 14.2 through 16.2 and TB to Friesian. That said the Mark Todd and Rambo rugs are equally as good in my opinion.

My amigo mio slips from side to side really badly and it has been repaired lots of times and hasn't even been on a destructive horse.

As of today it is shredded thanks to a hormonal 4 year old and a thick over enthusiastic ISH gelding, idiots.
