Firstly apologies for sticking this in NL, but I need to make a quick decision and I thought I'd get a bit more feedback in here.

Admin - feel free to bend me over and spank me but please don't move it just yet :D

Ok guys, I need your help and quickly.

Mackenzie has finally trashed his trusty red Amigo, I was gutted when I walked into the yard the other day, saw his rugged draped over his stable door with the YO stood there grinning like a Cheshire cat.

what's he done now? I asked

''well it was kinda round his neck, as much as it would of pleased me to let him straggle himself, I decided to rescue him''

Asked if it was trashed completely

''errrr, well.... yes, unless you're really really good on a sewing machine!

He's had it years, pretty much never had it off his back apart from in summer, it's never leaked a drop of rain to this very day even in heavy rain storms and through 2 winters, worth every penny and more, it brings a tear to my eye seeing it at the side of my stable in a big heap, all screwed up and shredded to pieces....bit I just can't bring to throwing in the bin! :o

Anyway, I've been on a few websites and can't seem to find the same rug (the red one 600d lightweight, no fill, waterproof) but have seen some on eBay, thing is there is few, there's the green one, the older style in red and then a brown:confused: basically I just wanted to know, is there a colour (as in when they brought that design out) to avoid, because I've heard so many people saying there Amigo LW's leaked but then some people say it depends when you bought them as they changed quality etc.

I want another Amigo because they fit him really well but they also fit the TB really well too.

Is there a colour/design I should avoid?
Can you take a look? and recommend one or tell me which sellers to stay clear off (PM if you'd rather) I'd like to them both ordered today. :)

Thankies and some M&S Belgian milk chocolate coated American peanuts on the rounds. :D

Is it an Amigo LW you are looking for?
We have one its Amigo its blue with white and blue binding, and its 1200d, last year on HHO the 600d red ones didnt have a good write up, as they leaked in heavy rain. 1200d are more expensive than the 600d, but imo worth every penny.

I bought a red (with grey binding), amigo, 600d lightweight about 18 months ago, so sounds like it could be the same as yours, and I'm afraid mine does leak in torrential rain, or rain that lasts the whole day. Next time I buy one, I'm going to get the 1200d version.

Perhaps, as yours was so old, it was made from a better, more resilient material than they are made from now, i.e. perhaps horseware have changed fabric suppliers since you bought your old one? (i don't know this, I'm assuming/guessing)

Oh right I see, wonder if mine is the 1200d then? because it's never leaked (never even had it cleaned or re-proofed either) will it say on the label on the inside which one it is? I'll have a look, good job I've still got it.

Yes it's basically just a rain sheet turnout that I'm after, Mackenzie gets very warm with anything else on (even in the cold weather), but he doesn't tend to sweat with his Amigo they seem to be quite breathable compaired to other makes.

We've got the 1200d ones. They are blue with metal loops where you can attach a neck cover if required. Cyber Checkout on Ebay sell a lot of Amigo rugs if you haven't checked them out already.

Ive got a 600d and a 1200d and never found a difference in them tbh, the 600d one is on its second winter now and its done very well :D And this is a pony who wasnt rugged until the age of 11/12 :p

Thansk I've never looked at that website before (Cyber Checkout) gosh there are cheap but only thing is they only have 4'6 size in the Amigo LW, I'll need a 6'3 and a 6'6 (if I remember rightly as the Amigo that I had was a 6'3, which fits them both, plenty of room for the 15.1 TB (but not too big) and now a bit snug for Mackenzie, so thought I'd go up a size.

The 600D is an ultralightweight turnout rug that is more for showers and not heavy torrential or persistent rain in my opiniion.

If I know the weather is going to be awful then I would use the 1200D blue with grey lining lightweight, whereas if I know it is going to be showers on and off and its warm then I would use the red lightweight rug.

They have brought out the red rug with a hood but I dont know if they have changed the colours since then.

I have really liked the red rug because in the summer when its really too hot for the 1200D rug but needs some protection from showers, the red one has been great (particularly as my horse wears a boett and it means he doesnt over heat as much as he could in a 1200d)

Thank you for your feed back, best make sure I order the 1200d rather than the 600 then by the sounds of things, really interested to see which one mine is, first thing I'll do when I get down to the yard after work.

I'll have a search to see who does the cheapest ones now. :)

This might help clear things up. Horseware (who make the amigo range), made a red version of their 1200D LW turnout. I reckon this is what you had. Hope your boy doesn't trash his new one too. Hope this helps. :)

My new brown/red trim 600d has just come apart at the stitching after 3 weeks. The tail flap has come off!!! So dunno if the quality has dropped.
I had the red one and it was brill. I am gutted!!!!
I washed it and reproofed it with Nikwax in the washing machine and it didn't leak.
