Amiro Z is by an Argentinian stallion, Amigo Toss, and was brought in by Zangersheide to add some blood to the Holstein lines. He is out of Renommee Z, full sister to Ratina Z (x Ramiro Z).
Our ISH mare is in foal to him, due in March, so can send you some pics then!
We went to the Zangersheide Open Day in February, having spotted several other stallions in their catalogue and not even considered him. But when we were there, we were just knocked out by him! He has very correct conformation, the most gorgeous temperament, loves lots of cuddles, but sharpens up under saddle, covers the ground really well, and has an athletic (but not exagggeratedly enormous) jump .... seemed to us a really interesting sire for eventers. He has done well already in competition for such a young horse, and two of his foals from the first crop made good prices at the Z Auction .... so we are keeping our fingers crossed!
I would just say that the photo in the Z catalogue absolutely doesn't do him justice - makes him look rather rangy and unattractive .... the video probably gives a better picture, but best thing is to see him in the flesh! (And of course his breeding makes him VERY interesting ..... )
Went to Zangersheide in Feb of this year, and he was one of the horses that LEAST caught our eye in the catalogue. However, seeing him under saddle, he had a very nice efficient but bold jump, a lovely gallop, and really drew the eye as a potential event sire. He was 4yo champion at the Z festival this year, and had some foals sell for respectable prices. In the stable, he was a complete poppet, and I nearly tried to take him home. He loved having his tongue stroked, and spent all afternoon with his nose poked through the feeding area so he could have cuddles. The only consolation when I left was knowing that Rufusbluemoon was going to use him on her mare. We will take photos of her foal and post them in March!
Here is Amiro Z (excuse the photo quality and size, my camera doesn't cope with speed that well, and I am not good enough to resize them...)
Hmm ... actually, I've just realised that loose-jumping photo, whilst a lovely horse with matching markings in front, may not be Amiro Z as I don't see the back stockings!
That's what I get for not labelling my photos right away... The ridden ones definitely are him, though.
Thanks for the great comments so far. I'm liking what I hear from you- photos are great too! (Even if they're not all the right horse LOL!
Did you deal direct deal with Zangersheide - if so how were they to deal with? If not, do you know who the new UK agent for Z will be?
He seems to be interesting addition of different TB blood, and of course a very proven mare line. I've not heard who will be the Uk agent for Zangersheide for the next covering season.
If you follow the following link it will take you to Stud For Life's critique of him at his Z grading last year (you might have to get the google translate out if your French is not good). Scroll down and you will see a standing and a loose jumping pic of Amiro. http://www.studforlife.com/StallionsFL/Expertises/2007-02-11_Z.htm
The write up on his basically says that they think he has a very demonstrative jump and they think he is a bit special!
Thanks again for all your input. I was looking for a more dressage type but my daughter has eventing plans - hence the query. He does seem to have a compact style and willing outlook over jumps.
One area I am trying to refine is bone. He looks to be quite light boned or am I seeing things?
Finally, I'd be interested in seeing what his style and paces are on the flat. Anyone got pics of this?
