I have never had anything to do with synthetic fertilisers (we have enough muck!) so my mate Cassy needs your help!

She is worried because the farmer at her yard has just spreat Ammoniunm Nitrate (35% it sadid on the bags) on to all the grazing, with horses still grazing.

Yuor thoughts please.... I hasten to add that my wagon is on standby to go and collect her horses based upon what you guys think!

chris says it is not advisable to graze immediatly after fertillizing...hes says to keep a very close eye on them and look for signs of lami and colic..he says the growth is so fast with this fertillizer...he does say there isnt much of a treat to them actually eatin the fertillizer as it is so bitter they probnably wont eat it.......

however after 48 hrs there will be a growth spurt...watch them religously...

i have to admit here we make sure no horses are grazing for at least 2 weeks after spreading....

All i know about it is the animals that are most affected by Ammonium Nitrate are cattle and sheep, but i think you are right to be concerned.
Personally i'd move mine off, or call the vet to find out whether there is such a risk.
