Some time ago there was an article in H and H about this and how a horse's ability to cope with weight decreases with age etc. There was also a table, does anyone have a copy or link to the article please it may motivate me to diet a bit more!

I posted this on another post:

Found on an obscure website so not sure if accurateLOL Sorry, probably a useless reply

Lightweight Hunter:

The definition of a lightweight hunter can be a thoroughbred or cross thoroughbred, 16.1hh - 16.2hh, 8.5 inches of bone, to carry not more than 12st 7llbs.

Middleweight Hunter:

The definition of a middleweight hunter can be a thoroughbred of hunter type, ideally 16.3hh, 8.75 - 9 inches of bone, to carry up to 14st.

Heavyweight Hunter:

The definition of a heavyweight hunter is up to 17hh, 9 - 10 inches of bone, to carry 14st and over.

but not sure how accurate it is and it doesn't answer all your questions so, mmmmm thats at least 2 useless replies I've posted today LOL. I'd like to know the answer too, I'll pm admin and see if they can help

Oh bum. They definitley did something as it casued a bit of a stir and was a follow on from the riding schools setting weight limits. It went into detail about noice riders that were overweight were more of a strain for the horse etc but they printed a table/guide which is the bit I was after.
