Hello again!
No problem this time just wondered really... How much excercise does your dog get on an average weekday or weekend? What breed and age? Pictures are very welcome!

Thank you :)

18 months old dog gets between 3-5 miles biking 2 days a week (Usually Mon and Fri)

2 x 45 min walks three days a week through the forest or at the beach (Tues, Weds, Thurs)

At least one swimming session a week (Usually Sat)

One session of 1m hurdle and A frame one day a week and protection work with a helper (2-3 sessions) on Sundays.

A little free running in between

He did not get any high-impact exercise (repeated jumping etc) until 12 months and until after I had seen his hip and elbow x-rays. His scores returned clear two weeks ago.

Five year old dog get a bit of free running and short lead walks, his back is buggered after jumping from the top of an A-frame a couple of years ago.

Barney gets at least half hour off the lead in the morning and sometimes another walk on the lead in the afternoon/evening. He gets a occasional long walk in the woods :)

Ours just run themselves witless in the field while we are doing the horses. They are as fit as fleas. Length of time depends on how much we need to do and they decide how energetic they want to be depending on the the weather. (heat rain etc, they are whippets and love heat and don't do rain)

An hour's walk in the morning (one on a bungee lead on the walking belt, one on a giant flexi), 30-45 minutes free run in the paddock at lunch time, an hour's walk in the evening (bungee/flexi again). An hour's agility lesson twice a week for D, R gets to do a bit of jumping and both get a free run before and after the lessons. I try to take them out individually once a week for some obedience training out in the park on a long line, 30 minutes each. They are never offlead except in my rented paddock and the agility compound, both fenced in.

They have a break over the summer but in a couple of weeks time they'll be brought back into work for the racing season, running 5k on foot twice a week and pulling me 5k on a scooter, bike or rig depending on what I fancy at least once if not twice a week in addition. We've got a rally in December that involves an 8 mile night trek and a 10-12 miler the following morning so the distances will be ramped up between now and then.

They are Siberian huskies and when they are not out doing stuff they are fast asleep. :p

It varies......:D

Sorry, not very helpful I know.....the workers that will shortly be on the moors are getting three hours plus at the moment. The youngsters and oldies get less, depending on their physical and mental needs.

The dogs that just go rough shooting (mainly the oldies) will do slower, less intense exercise.

All of mine swim at least twice a week at this time of year.....am lucky to have a suitable ford/river nearby.

All the dogs, regardless of breed, are built up very SLOWLY, starting with lead walking. One hours lead walking doesn't even come close to 15 mins quartering for the HPRs, which can be required to work a beat of 200-300 yards plus. Their exercise is a mix of stamina building, training, play and socialisation. The heavier HPRs (eg GWPs, Spins etc) are taken slower than their lighter weight counterparts....eg GSPs, Vizs etc.

I never totally let mine lose fitness altogether, so out of season, they will get circa 2 x 1 hour sessions but it will be of much lower intensity.

On a working day:

Half hour hoon around field

Hour or so proper walk in the evening.

On a day off:

3-4hour hike (all three) OR

2-3hour bike ride (just Teal and Dylan, too much for Buster) OR

Running with me for what I can manage and another 30-1hr walk.

And on my days off each dog gets a 20minute or so training session. (mainly recall, stays etc)

And once a week.
Hours walk on their own with moi for training and socialisation (normally go on walks where we will meet other dogs)

Evie (4 year old GSD), walk round field in the morning, then around an hours playing in the garden. , 15 minutes ball throwing in field at lunchtime, then an hour or so walk( some running if I am feeling energetic), mainly road work, later in the day, and more playing in the garden/field. A couple of times a week we go on a longer walk.
Freya (4 months GSD) maximum 10 minutes road walk to see traffic etc, the rest of her exercise is just playing free in the garden with her mum. Her road work will increase gradually but she won't do anything significant until she is 12 months.

At the moment between 3 and 5 miles a day mainly off lead, little bit of roadwork, quite often they have a swim while we are out. Usually only take them out once with this current routine, around lunchtime as a rule, this time of year lunchtime walking is usually impossible but not had to change it yet this year!!! Bloody weather! Sometimes we go out for another hoon/play ball on private ground later in the evening for 30-45mins. I sometimes worry its not enough but they are all very fit and mostly sleep the rest of the day so I guess it is plenty. Winter 2 of them are out shooting a couple of times a week. 1-2-1 training sessions a few times a week for 20-30 mins. Weekday to weekend routine doesnt vary currently.
ETS, dogs are 2 PRT's, Hungarian Vizsla and a lurcher (who could do with less exercise very very gladly but tends to have a run then potter along at my heel the rest of the way)

At the moment ours get - daily 1 hour in the morning, 30 mins in the evening, and lots of play sessions in the garden.

Of the morning walk, 20 mins is running on a belt and training for our youngsters. The 10 year old samoyed just runs loose.

This coming weekend the malamutes go on a rig for the first time - eeekkkk! So their exercise routine will change, as it will in race season.

9yr old doberman x ( think a bit of lurcher in there). Races round farm like a lunatic for several hours a day. Comes out hacking for miles, gets a short walk taking daughter to park etc. Gets longer walks too of several hours sometimes, usually take him somewhere for a good swim a few times a week. Plus does about 1&1/2 to & fro farm a day. Reckon he must easily cover 10 miles plus a day. When we were on holiday friends daughter was taking him 5miles on a bike 2x a day plus a short walk with her Mums elderly dog & he was apparently still full of energy so reckon he must do at least that with me. Hard to be precise though, only on a lead when legally obliged so for every mile I cover he does more racing round.

We have a 7 month old standard schnauzer, she walks on the lead about half a mile and is let off the lead for 20mins, so about 30 mins total in the morning. Starting to think she needs another little walk in the evening now as she is getting more and more annoying in the evening and I wonder if she is bored. We try to do a bit of training too but she has a 30 second attention span so we end up doing lots of little bits.

My Weimaraner and Weimaraner x Viszla get 30mins in the grass tennis court in the local park chasing a frisbee and trying to work on recall with me and an hour with husband in the evening running loose round our big park. It is nowhere near enough and they would like at least twice that, thank you very much.

My 2 year old lab goes out on a ride with horse 2-3 times a week, so about 6 miles. He also gets on lead walk to school during term time so that is 2 miles on lead. On days he doesn't go with horse he gets a 30-45 min off-lead forest walk and some swimming in the river if warm!

Very occasionally he just gets a short round the local park for 30 mins, then the garden!
