Amtrust & KBIS?

Can anyone recommend either of these companies? I'm currently with Petplan who have been great but they won't insure my loss of use horse for anything other than being in a field, whereas these 2 will insure her for hacking.

Any experiences good or bad would be appreciated. Thanks

I use AmTrust and they are very easy people to deal with if there is a problem. Recommend 100%.

Im with KBIS, first year with them as like you was with petplan but they kept upping the premium, seem fine to me so far.

Both are reputable companies so depends really on who's offering what cover and what the premium is - choose whichever suits you best!

Just noticed Amtrust only offer 1million legal liability, wonder if they can increase that

As your horse is LOU what do you want to insure for? Can you still insure for death?

You could always go down the BHS Gold Memeber route which gives you £10million third party insurance for any horse activity with no excess to pay if you do claim - cost about £58. But your horse wouldn't be insured if it died.

Tried NFU but they won't cover loss of use horses unfortunately, my sister's pony is with them so know that they're good.

I want to cover my mare for light hacking really-she is still capable of doing this from time to time so I'd definitely like to be covered for it. She'd still be insured for death or theft, but the payout wouldn't be much because she's not worth a lot. I doubt anyone would bother stealing her seeing as she's microchipped and has the L freezemark. Plus I want to be covered for vets bills, personal accident and 3rd party, and my tack. The underwriters at Petplan would only cover her for being in the field, and not for hacking. I looked into the BHS cover too, but then I'd still need to insure my tack and for vets bills anyway.

Amtrust have given me a really good quote so am tempted to go with them. Thanks guys.

You could try Julie Andrews Horse Insurance Services, very helpful and they do half the work....have the work = half the stress and they only use good reputable companies, worth giving the tinkle and explaining what your after, I'm sure they will be able to assist you.
