And a thank you to all those of you lovley HHO's that have read and commented on my recent threads. In which I have whinned and worried about my horse's sore front hoof which appeared the day after he was shod. (Tbh I had begun to bore myself) It seems after 3 weeks of on and off poulticing, bute, box rest, farrier and vet visits and speculation on why my horse was suddenly lame after his new shoes. With everything from abcess's to fractured pedal bones and all else in between being suspected, it appears that it was all down to his shoe being too tight on his heel.
I have learned three valuable and expensive lessons.
1. Never let my farrier leave before at least trotting my horse up on the yard.
2. Should I have cause to call him back the next day insist on him removing the shoe before anything else.
3. That in all cases except a real emergency my local semi retired but extremely experienced vet is most likely to be the best man for the job.
