I'm now able to read and think about this without sobbing.. so i thought i'd post the email that the man who hunted Squeaky for the 07/08 season sent to us when he was told the news.
At the precise moment Chris called me I had popped up a picture of Squeaky from the 1st day he arrived at *********.
A coincidence yes, but proof I still did and don't have him out of my system. I would sneak a look, every now and then, at the array of photos I have of him mostly out hunting. What a lovely boy he was.
I can't find the silver lining of this particularly dark cloud. I hope he still remembered, up until the last, just how brilliantly he went across some of the best country this country has to offer. How absolutely stunning he looked all platted up and regal looking with those infectious, attentive, alert, wonderful ears. I hope he remembered and reman-iced. I certainly do.
I am so very sorry that he had to be put down. I, like Clare (and many others) could see just what potential he had to offer. Alas, now we will never know if those heady heights would ever have been achieved or got close to.
I will miss him as I have done already. The children who used to bring him in and play with him as he the most delicious stable manner imaginable will, I am sure, be very upset when we tell them the sad news.
I must again thank you from Squeaky for allowing us to have what turned out to be the best, the first and sadly his last season. He will forever have a place in my heart.
I am so sorry you've lost Squeak. He sounds like he was one a million and I'm sure you are honoured to have had him in your life, even though it was too short a time.
So sorry to read this.
I know exactly how you feel I lost the best horse I have ever owned on Wednesday, she had an accident in the field and injured her hock so badly she couldn't be saved.
we were had been working so hard together and knew eachother so well, she went way before she should have.
Remember the good times at least they are both at piece and out of pain.
RIP
