Just a short belated report from saturday. We decided to take the little coloured I ride to a large RC show to see what the world of showing made of him! I was feeling very rusty as I havent shown for several years and then only at local level, and pony has never been in a ring before so we had no idea what he'd make of it!

Anyway had entered him in the Small Working Hunter which was a Balanced Horse Feeds qualifier thinking it would be rather nice if he qualified but didnt believe he would!! He went in and exceeded all expectations, not only jumping a sweet clear round a decent track having never really seen worker fences but also behaving impeccably in the show part. We were absolutely gobsmacked when we were pulled in 1st!! So massive pats for J and big grins from me! Stuck him in the championship as thought we had nothing to lose and he was pulled in Reserve Champ to the Large Worker! :D :D

Then rushed over to the Riding Club Horse ring and apologised profusely for being so late having asked before the class started if they minded which the judge kindly said she didnt. By this point they were just lining up to do their shows, so popped J on the end and he snoozed! Went out and produced a nice little show, popped the two fences and went back to snooze in the line again! (he liked that bit!) :D Then all walked and trotted again (I suspect for my benefit! :S) and bless him we were pulled in 1st again! To my utter astonishment and slight embaressment as I felt like I'd hijacked the class.

So 2 1st rossies, a Reserve Champ rossie, 2 cups and I finished £1 in profit after totting up our winnings! So not a bad day out at all! :D (I did think perhaps I should convert from eventing as I did better in one day today than I have all year eventing!!!

I quite enjoy working hunter classes - kind of a mix of all the eventing phases!

We have a 13.2 version of your pony that has won the workers every time out so far this year, so I'd carry on!

Wow well done. Don't expect to see a show person dabbling in eventing post from me. May see a show person jumps 1'6" cross pole.

Good luck if you do the final.

ooo-er - what a little pot hunter you are!!

Seriously though - what a gorgeous little horse (I hadn't seen pics before). Not surprised the judges loved him.

If I had those results showing I would definitely try it again.

Did ginger baggage go too???

Well done.

Well done what a good day :) Hope it is not a new showing disease as Ash won the Small Hunter at my local show at the weekend, my first showing for ages.
